Chapter 55
The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
Chapter 55 A Dirty Heart Sees Others As Dirty
Inside the internet-famous restaurant, it was still packed.
A dozen or so waiters werenât enough, hustling around with plates flying everywhere.
Daphne pulled Lysander to a vacant seat and immediately spat. âWhat rotten luck. I just wanted to enjoy a meal out and still end up encountering garbage.â
Adrian slowly seated himself opposite two girls and asked, âDaphne, do you know Jane?â
Daphne paused. âJane? Who is that?â
âThe pregnant woman we just saw outside.â
Daphne suddenly realized, then sneered mockingly, Jane? Well, at least sheâs self-aware enough to give herself such a fitting name.â
Adrian turned the menu towards them and handed it to the two girls. âYou can order.â
Daphne took it. âLet me handle it. Iâve checked the reviews online; I know all their signature dishes. We definitely wonât go wrong.
Adrian asked, âWhat about you, Lysander?â
Lysander smiled faintly. âIâm fine with anything.â
âAny dietary restrictions?â
âNone. Iâm good with whatever.â
Lysander pushed up the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose, restrained a smile, and nodded slightly. âYouâre easy to please. Nowadays, they say itâs hard to please girls. Inviting a girl to dinner makes one anxious; if you order a dish she doesnât like, youâre instantly labeled as not a good person.â
Lysander asked, âHave you experienced this before?â
âNot really. I just heard it from friends.â
Lysander pondered for a moment before replying, âActually, I think what you order and eat doesnât have a direct relationship with being together. Girls care more about whether the guy has them in mind and pays attention to their food preferences and lifestyle habits. Ultimately, they donât want extravagant meals; they just want an attitude.â
Adrian seemed to have an epiphany, nodding slightly âLearned something.â
âHeh, thatâs your perspective; some people donât think so.â Daphne gestured towards the door entrance. âSome people are convinced that you canât let go of the lavish lifestyle and are desperately clinging to Josiah. She thinks everyone is like her?â
Lysanderâs tone remained indifferent. âA dirty heart sees others as dirty.â

âExactly.â Daphne slammed the menu shut. She added, âThis restaurant has been so popular lately; why canât we come just because sheâs here? Itâs just a coincidence. She thinks everyone is obsessed with Josiah like she is?â
Lysander asked, âHave you decided on your order?â
âI have. Iâve ordered via scanning the QR code on my phone.â Daphne suddenly asked, âHey, Adrian, do you know that Lysanne?â
Adrian raised an eyebrow and glanced at Lysander. âHuh?â
âOh, no. I wasnât talking about Lysander. I meant the pregnant woman just now whoâs also named Lysanne.â
Adrian hesitated for a moment. âWhat a coincidence?
âNot really. Itâs just a game of substitutes.â
Lysander gently kicked her under the table.
Daphne understood and immediately changed the subject. âSo, uh, do you know her Stounian name
but not her real name?â
Adrian took a sip of tea, his voice deep. âI had some dealings with her back in Stounia because of a
case.
âA case?â
âYeah, I was the deceasedâs doctor, and she was the defense lawyer for the deceasedâs husband.â
âWow, a homicide case?â
âIt wasnât particularly complex; the husband had an affair, but divorcing him would mean dividing the assets and facing hefty child support payments, so they decided to go all in.â
Daphne slammed the table in anger. âAnd she defended such scum?â
âThatâs what lawyers do. They operate in the best interest of their clients. As for right or wrong in the moral sense, thatâs for the courts to judge.â
âWhat was the outcome of the case in the end?â
