After The "Date"
My Mother's Friend
I'm sitting on the couch when I hear my mother enter the house.
"Hey, how did it go?" I ask
"Fine, what are you watching?"
"Some documentary?"
She walks around the couch and turns her back facing me.
"Unzip me."
I pull down the zipper on her dress and she pulls it off while walking to her room. After a bit she comes back in a long t-shirt and sits on top of me.
"MOOOM! move you're heavy."
"But I'm so comfortable here, give me some chips."
"I will if you move."
"Fine."
She scoots over and I place the bag of chips in between us to share.
She takes a handful into her mouth and starts texting somebody.
Sometimes it feels like she's my roommate more than my mom.
It's fun at times but I really do need her to be a mother figure.
"So Michelle seems pretty cool."
"She's alright."
"Why haven't I seen her before?"
"I'm sure you have. You probably just forgot."
"She's really pretty."
"Meh, she's okay I guess."
We stayed up late watching whatever happened to come on the TV and gossiping. Well it was mostly my mother gossiping about her friends. I feel for her friends. They trust my mother and she's just telling their business to anyone that would listen. She's incapable of keeping secrets quiet.
I wanted to ask her about Michelle but the gossip came with her commentary and none of it was nice. Plus I wanted to keep the perfect image I had of Michelle.
The rest of the week was the same although I kind of wanted to see Michelle again. I guess she made an impression on me. Well I mean she does seem like a very successful woman and I want to travel like she has. Also she is very charismatic and stuff so yeah.
BONUS
I sit in my car watching Linda's house like a creep. We made plans to see each other today at 8:00am. I take another sip of my iced coffee only to find out that it's now just ice. I open the top and using my straw I shove the rest of the ice into my mouth. After I wipe my mouth and hands with the napkins that came with the coffee. I look at the inside of my wrist at the watch that Linda gave me a while ago.
It's really expensive. I've tried many times to return it to her but she won't budge.
I look and see that it is barely 8, I must have forgotten the amount of time it takes to get from my house to Linda's. I'll just wait a bit longer.
...
I decided to get out of my car as people passing by were giving me weird looks. I knock on the door feeling very nervous. I haven't seen Linda in so long.
The door opens and Linda stands on the other side wearing a beautiful dress.
"Hey, it's so good to see you." I say extending my arms out for a hug.
"Michelle, hi! How are you?"
After a brief hug I respond "I'm good and you? By the way, you look amazing."
"Aww, thanks. I'm doing fine, please come in."
I walk in and I can't believe my eyes. Is that Amanda?
I walk to her, extending my hand for her to shake.
"Neaighhaahh!" is what I hear as she runs out of the room.
I look back at Linda who has a hand on her face.
"I'm really sorry Michelle. I don't know what's wrong with her. Please sit, let me get you a drink."
"Sure."
She grabs a wine glass and rinses it.
"It's kind of early for wine isn't it?"
"Is it?" she responds.
I guess not.
She turns on the garbage disposal and it makes a horrible sound.
"That doesn't sound good."
"This has never happened before. I must call my plumber to fix this."
"You don't have to, I'm pretty sure it's a spoon or a fork that is stuck in there. Let me have a look." I say taking off my blouse and placing it on the backrest of the stool.
"What!? No, I'll just call my plumber."
"You don't have to waste your money."
"I have plenty, trust me."
"That's good but still I can easily take care of this."
I walk to the sink and stick my hand down the drain. I can't seem to find anything so I go under the sink.
"You really don't have to be doing this."
"I'm almost done." I replied.
Suddenly I hear Linda say "huh?"
"You know, that beautiful
supermodel that came through the door. Is she gone?"
Supermodel?
I pop my head out and say "There's a supermodel here?
Where?"
Amanda quickly covers her face with her hands.
I decided to tease her a bit.
"...Wait you can't possibly be
talking about me right?"
She turns even more red.
I ask Linda to test the garbage disposal after taking out a couple things clogging it.
It works and I wash my hands. I walk over to who I'm presuming is little Amanda.
"You aren't going to run from me this time, are you?"
She shakes my hand and I can't believe how big she's gotten. Of course she doesn't remember me. I met her while she was very young.
I try not to laugh as I realize that she had run away to change and put some makeup on. She looks incredible but from the small glimpse I saw of her when I first saw her she's beautiful either way.
I didn't realize I was holding on to her hand for a while until Linda interrupted us.
We sat down on the breakfast bar to catch up and I must say that the dress Amanda is wearing looks great on her. It really shows off her curvy body.
Her mother invited me out to eat. I agreed but I really wanted to stay and talk with Amanda some more.
I caught Amanda lying but I decided not to call her out on it because she just looked so cute.
