Chapter 223
Presiden's wild wife
After a while of silence, Logan started to talk, âDid Jacob mention anything about G City?â
âHey, that can wait. Your surgery is the priority!â Elena said, holding his hands tightly. âLogan. I hope youâll be well. I donât care who my biological father is.â
What was more, she couldnât accept it till now. She was afraid to find the truth...
So, no matter what, Logan was the top one on her list. She could put everything aside for him.
Loganâs dark eyes blinked, âOK. Iâll listen to you.â
She smiled, feeling relieved. She thought it would take time to persuade him.
Then he called Roger back, âUncle Roger, I am sorry that the appointment has to be canceled. I am not available in days.â
Roger was confused, âWhy? Thereâs something wrong with your business? Or the Browns is troubling you again...â
âUncle Roger.â Logan interrupted. Seeing Elena out of the corner of his eyes, he looked mild, âI will have an operation in days, so I need to go abroad to do some preparation. We may stay there for days or weeks to wait for the result.â
Roger was so surprised. He became tearful when he heard the news.
âWhen...When will you set off? I want to go with you.â
âNo, thanks. Elena will be with me. I know you are busy. Please donât worry about me, Uncle Roger.â
Roger shot him an angry glance, âHey, boy! I am not busy! I must go with you!â
Roger insisted to go with him. Logan couldnât persuade him. So he had no choice but to agree.
At last, Logan made up his mind to accept this surgery. And Jacob contacted the hospital to let them schedule it.
George got the news somehow and went to meet them in a great hurry with Cornel. Due to the punishment, Cornel still looked at Elena sharply.
But Elena didnât mind, smiling at them as she should do.
George and Logan were talking in the study. Cornel sat on the couch in the living room, looking at Elena with great discontent, âWhat is it gonna take for you to give up Logan?â
Elena raised her face slowly, looking back at him in amazement, âAre you talking to me?â
âWho else is in the living room now?â
Elenaâs eyes blinked, âI donât know what you mean. Are you unhappy with me?â
âYou are a jinx! Jacqueline is right! You never truly care for Logan! You are ruining him!â He scolded.
âI am ruining him?â She couldnât believe what he said.
Cornel added, âYes, you are! You knew that it was impossible for him to walk again! But you pushed him to do the examination. And now you pushed him to accept the useless surgery! I know what you want! You want to destroy him, donât you?â
Elena didnât know why he ever got this conclusion.
She failed to keep up with his mind, âYou want to see him sit in the wheelchair for the rest of his life but you wonât do anything to help him, donât you?â
Logan had a chance to get fully recovered. There was no reason for him to give up the surgery.
âItâll be a disaster that you give him hope but then it is broken! Iâd rather not do anything!â
âHow do you know it will be a disaster if you donât have a try?â
Cornel was irritated by her naïve remarks. What he wanted to do now was give her a slap to wake her up. âHe lost the ability to walk three years ago.
Itâs been three years!! How do you know he can recover after three years? Donât be naïve, Elena!â
âThatâs because he never tries to stand up!â
Elena looked into his eyes without fear.
Cornel stared at her, âYou donât think I care for Logan, do you? He is my son! I love him! I know so well about him!â
âOh, really? When and how did you care for Logan?â Elena asked back.
It was so funny to hear that Cornel loved Logan and he always meant well to him.
In fact, what she could see was how Cornel pushed Logan into desperation again and again, by favoring Yolanda, and by punishing Logan without a reason!
âItâs my family business. Itâs none of your business!â
âRight. I donât understand it. If I were you, I wouldnât abandon Logan and his mother. I wouldnât be that silly to marry a mistress and took an illegitimate daughter home in a big way!â
Yolanda was about Loganâs age. That was to say, Cornel had cheated on Loganâs mother before the divorce!
The affair was revealed. He was trembling with anger. He couldnât control himself and yelled, âHow dare you talk to me like that?!â
Elena wasnât afraid, sitting even more still.
Cornel was gritting his teeth. Looking at her, he suddenly remembered how his ex-wife defended Logan... And now, it was Elena who tried to defend Logan, as his ex-wife used to do. She was a weak and tender woman, like his ex-wife, but now she was acting so tough and dauntless in front of him, telling him that it was HE who destroyed his family and ruined Logan.
The memory flooding over him made him give in. He looked blank now.
âI call you âfatherâ because I love Logan and I try to show you my respect and good manner. But please, donât treat Logan as a loser! He is not that vulnerable. He is the most strong-minded person Iâve ever seen in the world!â
Logan could make it through. She didnât know what Cornel was afraid of.
Cornel asked, âAre you one hundred percent sure that the surgery will succeed?â
She shook her head, âNo one can guarantee it. Me, either. I am not a doctor...â
âYou mean you push him to accept a risky surgery with uncertainty?!â
âBut we should have a try!â She looked determined, âNo matter what you say, I will encourage him to do the operation. Unless you can stop him.â
He was struck dumb. Could he stop Logan? The answer was âNoâ. Logan hated him. If it weren't for George, Logan wouldnât have talked to him once.
Logan had grudge against him, which made it impossible for him to change Loganâs mind.
His silence was the answer to Elena. She knew Cornel couldnât stop Logan. She bit her lip, âIf you canât stop him, he will accept the surgery.â
The surgery was hopeful; she wouldnât give up any hope.
Cornel balled up his palms into fists. Facing Elenaâs tough stand, he couldnât do anything but to accept it. A flood of helplessness came to him. It was like a reminder, telling him that he was the worst father who always disappointed Logan.

George and Logan came back to the first floor after finishing their conversation. Cornel threw a hopeful look at George, who was most likely to stop Logan from accepting the surgery.
