Jacqueline was quite pleased that she had got Elena’s promise and told Yolanda about it as soon as she got home. But Yolanda was nearly driven mad when she saw her mother’s joyful look, “Mom, you’re too stupid. You were fooled by her!”

“No way. Don’t be silly. Yolanda. Didn’t she marry Logan for money? Now I give her money and ask her to divorce Logan. Of course she will accept it!”

Yolanda stamped her foot, “If you really know her, you should be clear that she won’t leave him just for 10 million!”

“What do you mean, Yolanda?” Seeing Yolanda’s worried face, Jacqueline became panicked at once.

“Just imagine. If you were Elena, would you take the money and divorce him, or stay with him, the cash cow?”

“No way to get it back. Or are you going to tell dad and grandpa that you gave Elena money to leave Logan? Of course she will deny it. And if she doesn’t, why you do want them separate in the first place?”

Jacqueline knew what Yolanda said was correct. But she felt irritated, so she called Elena instantly, “You’ve never thought of divorcing him, right?”

Elena was surprised but answered quickly, “Yes, I have.”

At first, she thought there was no future between Logan and herself. But later Logan made her realize that he wouldn’t let her go, and she found herself couldn’t live without him, either.

Jacqueline was delighted about Elena’s answer. But the next moment, Elena continued, “But not any more. You are really generous, auntie. Ten million, nearly surprised me.”

Jacqueline heard sarcasm in her words very clearly. “I won’t just let you go easily!”

Elena sneered in her heart. She wouldn’t let her go easily? Considering what they did to Logan, they wouldn’t spare her no matter she accepted the money or not.

“I’m telling you, Elena. You’d better behave yourself. I know Logan married you, but I’m his mother and you must listen to me!”

Just when Jacqueline was threatening Elena, Yolanda saw a familiar figure and pulled Jacqueline’s clothes immediately. “Grandpa’s coming!”

Jacqueline went nervous and instantly changed her malicious tone into a warm welcome. “Well Elena, since you’re free these days, come back with Logan and have dinner with us. Grandpa’s fretted since his parrot hasn’t been speaking these days!”

Elena noticed this abrupt change and guessed what happened from Jacqueline’s words. She couldn’t help laughing out, “Well, auntie. You’re really a good actress who switches freely from a good mother-in-law and a bad one.”

“You!”

At first Grandpa George didn’t know who Jacqueline was speaking to. However, when he heard it was Elena, he rushed out in no time and snatched the phone excitedly. “Elena!”

Elena was bewildered by that greeting and after a while she realized it was grandpa who took the phone. So she smiled, “Grandpa.”

“I heard from Jacqueline that you would come back with Logan and have dinner with us?”

That wasn’t the truth, but she didn’t want to disappoint him. She had to answer, “I will come back with Logan tomorrow.”

“Great! I heard you were on vacation? I’ll tell the servant to clean your room so that you can stay for a few more days!”

“Grandpa, don’t...”

Before Elena finished, Grandpa George had been busy telling the servants to get prepared.

When she hung off, Elena sighed. She was supposed to stay away from the Browns, yet she agreed to go back. She was not sure whether Logan would be angry if he knew that.

The next day, Logan and Elena went back to the Brown’s house together. On their way, Elena kept peeking at him cautiously. When they nearly arrived, she couldn’t help saying, “I can talk to grandpa if you don’t want to go.”

Logan turned to her and saw concerns on her face. “Elena, take it easy. I said you’d better stay away from them. But since it’s grandpa’s invitation, we shall accept it. Besides, not all Browns are the same.”

“So you’re not unhappy with that?” she was reading his face.

Logan pinched her face and asked, “Why are you worried? You have no confidence in me to protect you?”

Grandpa George was waiting for them before the villa with his parrot very early. When he saw the familiar car, he got excited immediately and rushed to stop the car.

Jacob was shocked and stopped at once.

They were all scared by his unexpected and dangerous coming. Elena got off and looked him up and down. “Are you OK? It’s so dangerous for you, grandpa!”

Grandpa George was not annoyed by her blame and waved his hand merrily. “Don’t worry. Not a big deal. Come in now.”

Logan got off the car, too. He had a long face, “Grandpa!”

Grandpa George felt uneasy and slowly turned around. “You... you are here, Logan?”

The next second, he regretted what he just said. Of course Logan was here, too. They said they both would come back. What was he thinking?

“Grandpa, that was so dangerous!”said Logan in a low voice.

Grandpa George was holding the parrot and looking hurt. “Well, well. I know I’m wrong, I won’t do it again!”

But Logan was still looking at him. Grandpa George held up the parrot and protected himself from Logan’s stare. While the parrot suddenly spoke and yelled, “I know I’m wrong! I know I’m wrong!”

Elena was surprised and couldn’t help bursting out laughing!
