Chapter 157
Untamed: The Alpha
157 YES, I KILLED HIM
Zuri grabbed a wolf statue that was a wall display in this room, a black wolf that symbolized this pack, she hated it, both shifters and humans alike, or any other creature.
And then it happened so fast when Zuri grabbed the statue and smashed it on Adelâs head. The old woman fell to the floor with a shriek. She could feel blood spurting out of her wounded head, as she tried to stop the bleeding by pressing her palms on it, but it was useless.
âPlease, Zuri... please...â Adel cried when she watched how emotionless those hazel eyes were. Somehow, she knew that she wouldnât be able to escape from this. âZuri, please... give me a second chance...â
However, the onlace appeared in her hand crushed Adelâs hopes as Zuri thrust the pointed end of it into Adelâs throat, making her gag on her own blood.
âI donât give such a thing. You betrayed me.â Her voice rang very coldly when she watched how Adelâs pupils dilated and then life left her body.
She deserved it.
Zuri kept telling herself. It was not her, who had hurt her first. She asked for this and what she had done was right. It was the only right thing to do. She would never let anyone hurt her again.
And when she withdrew her onlace, she watched more fresh blood oozing out from the hole in her throat.
If it was eight years ago, she would have felt bad when someone died in her hands. She even felt bad for those people, who died because she told Chaos they have a piece of his shattered soul, but now...
.....
Zuri was not sure what she felt right now. It felt so easy to kill someone and watch them suffer before her eyes, but the calmness that she felt shook her conscience. Did she become a monster?
âZuri!â
Zuri leapt to her feet when she heard her name being called and someone slammed the door open behind her, her onlace at the ready.
âPut it down, I donât come here to hurt you,â Liam said hastily, but he didnât dare to step closer to the girl. He remembered the last time he did that and she clawed his face mercilessly.
Coward.
That was the first word that came to Zuriâs mind when she saw fear in Liamâs eyes.
A coward just like his brother.
âPut it down, okay,â Liam spoke again, this time his tone was a little bit gentle, but then he shook his head when he saw her not budging at all. âAll right, you donât need to do that, but make sure to not swing them against me. Now, follow me.â
âWhy should I?â Zuri asked in a cold tone, her expression was devoid of any emotions.
âBecause the whole pack is looking for you now!â he said in a rush. âThey will kill you once they see you.â
âThen I will take down as many people as I can with me.â Zuri was not joking about this.
Liam shook his head. âYou will fight the whole pack! Donât you understand?â he glared at the bracelet on Zuriâs wrist and then added. âYou canât shift as well, how do you plan to take them down?â
Zuri followed Liamâs line of sight, she realized that. She was aware of the bracelet. She wouldnât be able to fight them with this shackling her beast.
On the other hand, Liam sighed deeply when he watched how understanding dawned on her and he walked closer to the girl, carefully, he was on high alert when he did that.
âCome with me, I will help you to escape this place,â Liam said, he braced himself when he stretched out his hand. There was a huge possibility that Zuri would cut his arm without any hesitation, but this was not the time to worry about that when he had to get her trust.
For a moment, Zuri just stood there, staring at Liamâs hand. She had this urge to kill him, but thankfully, she was not blinded with impulsiveness.
âShow me the way,â Zuri said, as she walked past him because she didnât want to touch him, let alone taking his hand. The thought of making physical contact with another person alone had made her sick.
=====================
âTake this with you,â Liam said, as he handed a backpack to her along with a car key. âIt should be able to support you for at least two months.â
There was a little cash inside the backpack and a few clothes and pants for her to change, she could crash in some cheap hotel before she would be able to find the organization that Mateo told her about before when he helped her to escape.
âMake sure to find the organization before you run out of the money,â Liam reminded her again and again about this, because Zuri didnât look like she was about to seek out any help out there. âYou need to get rid of the bracelet. You know how dangerous it is for you to be spotted by the members of The Hound with that bracelet.â
Zuri snatched the car key and the backpack, and tossed it into the car, but said nothing as a reply to Liamâs suggestion.
âZuri, I hope you donât act recklessly,â Liam said. He held Zuriâs hand when she was about to enter the car, but the girl immediately swatted his hand away and glared viciously at him. âI am sorry for what you have been through,â Liam apologized sincerely.
For a moment, he thought Zuri would ignore him, but then she spoke in a cold tone. âI will kill anyone who tries to follow me.â
Liam then nodded. âUnderstood.â But then he immediately asked the question. âDid you really kill my brother?â
âYes. I killed him.â Zuri didnât even think twice when she replied and then shoved Liam away from the car door as she slammed the door shut and started the engine.
