Chapter 469 - 469 LUCINDA CITY (2)
Untamed: The Alpha
469 LUCINDA CITY (2)
âIs Knox here?â Zuri looked around her, she tried to figure out whether Knox and Chaos were already here or not, but she couldnât say for sure, their scent was all over the places, but it was so faint.
On the other hand, Gael raised his brows, surprised. The last time he knew, Zuri and Knox was not in a good term, if there is someone that she would ask the first thing she did when she arrived here, it must be Chaos.
âWhy are you asking about Knox?â He asked suspiciously. Did both of them in the middle of fight or something? Chaos didnât seem to show anything when he was here.
Yet, Zuri just waved her hands, she didnât want to answer that. Only then, Gael realized another thing.
âAnd moreover, why do you only bring a backpack? Is the rest of your things still in the car?â He asked in bewilderment, seeing how carefree she was. âYou will live here for long time, why you only bring a backpack with you?â
Zuri turned around and then looked at him with a puzzled look and then spoke in a matter of fact tone. âWhy should I bring something when you are rich enough to buy everything for me?â she questioned him. âI will just buy whatever I need here, why should I bother myself?â
âAh, you are rightâ¦â Gael mumbled, he nodded his head, but then he caught a glance of Skylar and then sighed. âBut apparently, your friend doesnât think the same way as you.â
Zuri strode away, as she followed Knoxâs strong scent, while Chaosâs scent had disappeared in this corridor, he must be not in this place too often.
âShe is not my friend,â she retorted.
.....
On the other hand, Gael could only chuckled. He remembered how stubborn this girl could be and salty whenever she didnât like someone. You would know it immediately from the look on her expression.
âI guess so.â Gael then asked someone to help Skylar with her things, as he followed Zuri. âDonât wonder around, I will give you a tour.â
============================
Zuri still couldnât find Chaos anywhere, but she found Knox, who holed up in his room, refused to go out. She could understand his reason, but seeing him like that only gave her a headache.
They came here to find Chaosâs shattered soul, but if he refused to go, it meant, it would be only the three of them and God forbid she went out with Skylar, because the two of them would end up killing each other.
The woman became more brazen right now and she was fed up with her antics during their journey here.
Skylar kept provoking her and tried to make snide remark, pointing out the fact that Chaos didnât want to see her and didnât want her to come in the first place.
Zuri laid down on the bed and stared at the ceiling. She felt tired and wanted to close her eyes, but a second later, she heard someone knocked on her door.
She didnât recognize this scent, probably one of Gaelâs employees. âYes? Come in.â Zuri didnât lock the door.
The door creaked and a young woman walked into the room. She had a long black hair and beautiful brown eyes, she smiled at her softly and spoke gently.
âAre you Zuri?â the girl asked her.
Zuri propped her body with her elbows and looked at her closely. She didnât wear a uniform, which meant she didnât work in this hotel and certainly was not Gaelâs employee.
âYes, I am.â The girl before her eyes looked so timid to meet her, but when she learned she was the person that she looked for, there was a relief expression on her face.
âI am River, Gaelâs daughter,â she introduced herself, which baffled Zuri. She knew that Gael had a daughter and he had managed to take her back from the government, but she didnât realize that she would live in this city.
What Gael was thinking to let his daughter lived under the governmentâs nose? He mocked them too muchâ¦
âI heard about you.â Zuri pushed herself and then stood up. âI have never thought that we will meet this soon.â
River smiled brightly when she received such a warm response from Zuri. âYeah, I heard a lot about you from father,â she said. âThatâs why I came here to see you myself.â
The corner of Zuriâs lips twitched when she heard that, she wondered what kind of story that Gael told River about her.
âI hope he didnât say something bad about me,â Zuri replied, as she walked toward her. âDo you need something from me?â
River chuckled. âFather asks me to get you, dinner is almost ready and he wants all of us to attend. I think he thought about it as a welcome feast, I guess.â
âThatâs so him.â Zuri commented, but then she asked. âDo you know Chaos?â
âYes, I saw him and Knox a few times.â River halted and then understood her intention. âChaos is not here and Knox refused to go out of his room. He said he is tired.â
What a lame excuse⦠how could he was tired when it was Zuri, Skylar and Norbeat, who had to go through those troubles?
âOkay, letâs go,â Zuri said and River looped her arm around hers, which surprised her. This was the first time they met with each other, but she acted as if they had known each other for a long time.
Moreover, Zuri was not comfortable to have skin to skin contact with other people and that must be shown, because River realized it and quickly withdrew herself from her.
âOh, I am sorry,â she said timidly, pulling on her long hair when Zuri flinched to her touch. âI used to have someone that I think as a sister, but she left years ago. I think I miss her because you and her looks around the same age.â She gave her an awkward laugh and then apologized again.
River was happy to hear the person that her father talked about would come, she felt like she had known Zuri through Gaelâs story, because that was the only thing that could console her when Vanesha left.
âHer name is Vanesha,â River said, as they walked in the corridor. âShe is like a sister for me.â
âVanesha?â Zuri tilted her head.
âDo you know her?â River looked surprised, this would be a great coincidence if she did.
However, Zuri shook her head. âI donât think so. Vanesha is a common name. I know someone named Vanesha as well.â But, she didnât think they were the same person.
========================
âYes, that the same Vanesha that you know. Nikolaiâs sister,â Gael said languidly when Zuri asked about this casually.
âYou never said anything about that.â Zuri frowned. She didnât know that Gael had been in contact with Vanesha for years.
âDid we ever really meet to discuss about this?â Gael walked toward his wine cellar and popped a bottle for both of them. âYou are old enough for us to enjoy this, right?â
Gael was right. They had never had a proper conversation before this.
âWhere is she now?â Zuri received a glass that Gael handed to her and smelled it bitter scent. The scent was too strong for her, but Gael seemed to enjoy this.
âI canât tell for sure,â he said in somber tone. He looked at the night sky.
They had just finished dinner and Gael invited Zuri here to talk alone since they had so much to talk about, while Knox locked himself in his room.
âWhat is it? I can see how close River with Vanesha.â
Gael sighed deeply. He looked so much older than the last time she remembered him. How old was he? in his late forties? Early fifties?
Gael was not a shifter, neither he was the same kind like Norbeat or Skylar or Knox, thus he aged like human, though human thought of him as a supernatural creature. It was a little ironicâ¦
âItâs complicated,â Gael said briefly and with that Zuri laughed, which startled him.
âIf itâs not complicated, I wonder if I am even alive.â They had dealt with countless complicated things, added a few more wouldnât make it any different. âNow, kept talking.â
Gael laughed along with her. âNow you give me an order, huh, little girl,â he scoffed playfully. He remembered when he met her for the first time. âAre you still biting and clawing now?â
He was not sure what this little girl had gone through, but she preferred the name Zuri than Blueâ¦
=============================
âI have a mission for you, but I need you to go with Emily,â Liam said when Eros came to his office.
Hearing that, Eros immediately rejected the order, though it was not his place to do so, since Liam was the alpha.
âI can do it by myself, no need to get her involved.â Eros had been trying to put Emily away from Liam, especially when this man started to notice her talent and had his eyes on her.
âShe will go with you,â Liam repeated his word again and then walked toward him. âBoth of you are so close and moreover, she is a human, so it will be easier for you two to enter Lucinda city.â Liam squeezed Erosâs shoulder, put pressure on him.
âLucinda city?â Eros frowned. âWhat do you want me to do there?â
