Lise was trying her best to keep a smile on her face, but she couldnât help taking an extra glance every now and then at the empty glass in Gaelâs hand.
âWhat is it?â Gael stopped talking to the guests, who came to him to make small talk, offering congratulations, blessings and the formalities that entailed behind it.
He could feel Liseâs eyes on him so often, thus he thought she wanted to say something.
But, Lise shook her head and spoke softly. âI am tired.â She tried her best to hide her nervousness and curiosity about how long the poison would take the effect on him.
It had been ten minutes, but Lise couldnât see any sign that the poison had any effect on him. Or maybe it was not strong enough?
Lise shook her head again, but in Gaelâs eyes, she looked anxious, making him think maybe it was because of her pregnancy.
.....
âLetâs rest,â Gael said to her in a light tone and talked to the man beside him about something before he ushered his bride away from their own wedding.
âBut, the guests?â Lise looked at all the people, who were staring at her and Gael, because the two of them were walking away from their own event.
âThere will be people to take care of them, you need to rest,â Gael told her, and ignored her other concerns, as he took her to the spare room, which was indeed prepared for them to take some rest.
It was a big room consisting of a king sized bed and the decorations of the wedding along the walls, with a balcony not too far from them.
âDrink this,â Gael said, giving a glass of water to Lise. âAfter that, you can take a rest.â
Lise said nothing and only drank her water, but to her surprise, Gael knelt down in front of her and stared into her eyes intently.
âWhat is it?â Lise asked him, she was on alert because of the closeness between the two of them.
âI know that you donât love me, but can you stay for the baby?â Gael asked her, his voice was very soft and it almost felt like he was a different person from the abusive man that she knew. His voice almost sounded like he was pleading. âI will give you everything to make up for it.â
Lise was lost for words, she didnât know what to say. She wanted to reach out her hand and touch his face when she saw tears streaming down his cheeks, but there was something in her that told her it was not right.
âPlease stay.â It was not an order, but a plea for her to stay with him.
âWhy are you crying?â Lise could feel her throat tighten. Why couldnât she feel any sympathy for him? But, at the same time, her heart ached for him?
âBecause I donât want to lose you...â
And that was the time when the power shut down and all the lights went off. Darkness surrounded them.
What was it? A power outage?
Gael stood up immediately, he was on alert now. He pulled Lise up and kept her close to him, by holding her waist quite tightly.
This situation was strange and he wouldnât let Lise out of his sight now.
âStay close to me,â he whispered, but the thing that he didnât know was; Lise was nervous for some other reason, something that she knew would happen.
====================
âNo, stop... Uncle Anthony, stop,â Blue said, and then tried to wriggle her hand out of Anthonyâs grip, but he was too strong and too occupied to pay attention to her refusal. âI donât want to go!â
âMateo, is the car ready?â Anthony asked his beta, while running along the hall. He completely ignored the fact that his niece was trying to fight him.
âYes, the car is waiting for us by the south exit,â Mateo replied, as he ran beside Anthony and Blue, while there were three other men following behind them.
âI donât want to go!â Blue cried in frustration. She didnât want to go with her uncle. She barely knew him.
If it was two years ago, she would have gone with him without question, but now she had a place to stay and she loved being with them.
âI donât want to go!â Blue screamed and clawed Anthonyâs hand in her attempt to get him off of her.
Anthony cried in surprise, his brows wrinkled when he noticed his bleeding hand because Blue had clawed him.
Though the wounds would heal in a matter of minutes, he was shocked because she attacked him.
âWhat are you doing?â Anthony asked in disbelief, he didnât seem angry, just shocked.
âI told you I donât want to go!â Blue said clearly. She had her back against the wall. This corridor was deserted, there was no one there, except them.
Mateo and the other three people looked at each other, they couldnât understand why this little girl refused to be rescued.
âYou are not serious about choosing to live with them, right?â Anthony took a step closer, but he stopped because he saw how tense the girl was. She was in the position ready to attack him once she felt threatened.
âI want to stay with them.â Blue emphasized every word that she said. âI donât want to go with you.â She looked around her.
Blue knew it was a futile attempt to hope for this kind of wish, but she couldnât help it.
Chaos... where are you? I donât want to go with them...n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Mateo stepped forward and spoke something incredulous. âShe must be under some spell that makes her doesnât want to leave those creatures.â
Albeit it sounded ridiculous, but Anthony seemed to believe it.
âTake her,â he gave an order with his alphaâs voice, while the three men there surrounded the little girl.
