In the speeding car, Sheila had had enough and yelled, “Alpha Nick, stop the car right now, or I will jump out of the window.”

“I dare you to try,” Alpha Nick raged. His voice was so cold, the temperature in the car dropped. Sheila feared due to the darkness in his eyes but could not help wondering his reason for being so upset.

Or, did he think she was Charlotte? “What do you want with me? You left your mate behind. Are you not afraid

that someone might kidnap her?”

Alpha Nick’s hands stiffened around the steering wheel as his feet pressed the brakes, at the same time he pulled over at the shoulder of the road but did not unlock the door.

Sheila knew the right strings to pull and as it seems, Alpha Nick was still afraid of Charlotte being taken away. from him, making Sheila strangely pained.

So, if it wasn’t for his fear of losing Charlotte, he wouldn’t have stopped. The little hope she had that perhaps, he was regretting his actions, vanished into thin air.

She was nothing to him and would never be. Charlotte would be the only woman to enjoy his warmth and love.

“I can get a cab here. Go back to your mate.” Bitterness coated her words as she tried to open the door but Alpha Nick refused to unlock it, insisting.

“Let me drop you at home.” It was as if he just regained control of himself from something, as his voice lost its

coldness.

Sheila did not want to spend another minute with him and quickly created an excuse. “No. I left someone

behind.”

Alpha Nick’s gaze grew dark when he recalled the way Sheila was dancing freely, laughing alongside with Beta

Gustav.

Still, he couldn’t figure out the reason why it made him upset when she wasn’t his mate. “That son of a bitch?

Dream on.”

For as long as she was going to see him, Alpha Nick refused to unlock the door. “Sheila, can’t you have a little

decency? Look at what you are wearing?” He quickly removed his coat and gave it to her.

Sheila didn’t take it. It was clear that Alpha Nick was only trying to satisfy his ego but did not genuinely feel anything for her. “I don’t want it. Just open the door. I will find my way back.”

Alpha Nick’s phone rang and not checking, or making a move to answer the call, he said,

“The divorce isn’t finalized and you are already with another man. What are you even wearing?” He stared at her with the same disgust sprouting through his voice.

Sheila felt insulted, recalling that Charlotte was dressed in something similar when she caught a glimpse of the latter at the party.

“Did you see what your mate was wearing before you left the packhouse with her?”

Alpha Nick felt ashamed since he couldn’t stop Charlotte from wearing that dress. It was the reason he followed her since he was afraid of other men hitting on her.

“The divorce isn’t finalized and she’s already in the packhouse. Please don’t play the victim. You are the one who gave me the divorce papers to sign. Now let’s complete the process tomorrow. I can no longer wait another day,” Sheila stated calmly, forcing down her raging anger.

Alpha Nick was pained at how quickly she had moved on when she claimed to love him so much, asking, “Why are you so much in a hurry? To run into his arms?”

He couldn’t tell if he was angry or jealous but his words were quickly interrupted by the ringing of his phone

once again.

Without checking the caller ID, he ended the call. It instantly rang again and frustratedly, he switched it off, tossing the phone in the back seat.

Sheila was shocked. This was the first time he prioritized her over his phone but couldn’t ride in the feeling of being any special to him.

It was only because the time they had left was short. “How does that concern you? You already moved on. We are divorced. I can be with whosoever I choose,” Sheila explained calmly.

Sheila had no intention of dating Beta Gustav but was glad to see pain in Alpha Nick’s eyes when the topic

shifted to the former.

“You are shaming the dark moon pack. How could you even dance like that? I thought you were a decent

woman.”

Sheila was so hurt that she almost choked on tears. It wasn’t as if Alpha Nick cared about her. It was all about his pack and ego. She wished to never set eyes on him ever again. At this moment, her respect for him dropped drastically.

“Does dancing make me indecent? I equally thought you were a decent Alpha until you began to parade around

with your mate everywhere, even when we were still married. “When the contract had not ended.”

There was no sign of remorse in Alpha Nick’s eyes as he responded, “She’s my destined mate. Tell me, is Gustav

your destined mate too?”

Sheila smiled bitterly. Only if she had also found her mate, she would have been in so much pain.

“What if I say yes?” She decided to test him, Alpha Nick felt a strange sensation in his heart. How could it be? He was certain that Sheila loved him and had eyes for only him.

“It’s not true. You can’t be with a beta after being with an Alpha.

“Says who? You are not my mate so anything can happen,” Sheila shrugged nonchalantly, though her heart ached terribly.

“It just doesn’t suit you,” Alpha Nick thought aloud. He would want to rather compete with a respectable Alpha but not a beta. Even if Beta Gustav was next to being the Alpha of his pack, the fact remained that he still was not

an Alpha at the moment.

“I’m wondering why you still haven’t marked your mate. Waiting again until she disappears?” Sheila taunted him. All she hoped to achieve was to make him upset enough to let her go.

Alpha Nick was indeed upset. Charlotte was not resisting the mark like before but his wolf has been very distant from Charlotte ever since her return and he couldn’t understand why.

“You have become sharp–tongued,” Alpha Nick observed and said, Sheila could not be bothered about what he thought of her.

“That’s because I’m a free woman.”

Somehow, he didn’t like her response and spoke threateningly. “I am the one who proposed the divorce. I can

Sheila felt like a joke. Everything about her has been a joke to him from the onset. “If you dare, Alpha Nick, I will send your mate packing from the packhouse. I guess you don’t want that,” she threatened back with a seriousness which caused Alpha Nick to give up.

He felt helpless because of Charlotte, since he didn’t want to lose her again.

“Sheila, I just asked for a few days to sort things out with the pack. Can you stop this behavior until the divorce is finalized?” He asked softly and before Sheila could respond, his gaze darkened as he threatened once again.

“I don’t want to see any man close to you or I’ll kill him.”
