Alpha Nick’s eyes squinted a little as he asked her, “What message?” The relationship between Charlotte and Sheila was still a mystery to him, including the turn of events on his wedding day over six months ago.

Staring into Sheila’s eyes, all he saw were obscurities. Shella didn’t lower her gaze like when she was still married to him. “Tell her that since she did not heed my warning, she shouldn’t blame me for what’s coming.”

“Which warning and what’s coming?” Alpha Nick asked. The darkness in Sheila’s eyes as she spoke those words. made him a little afraid. Who was she? She never wore any labels in the packhouse, but after the divorce, she

was wearing the most expensive brands.

Alpha Nick knew that none of the money spent on all that she wore was from him or the pack, making him feel.

“Just pass the message. She will understand. So why did you call me here?” Sheila spoke calmly, instantly. changing the topic. Though Alpha Nick was desperate for a better understanding of the happenings around him, he couldn’t sacrifice his agenda for it.

He was about to speak when he saw her injured knuckles again. Sheila had in mind to take care of it after getting to the hotel, but Alpha Nick seemed uncomfortable with it.

“Let me get ice for your knuckles. Waiter…”

“No need,” Sheila cut him off. His sudden niceness made her nauseated. “I don’t have time. Get to the point.”

Alpha Nick could endure her attitude but not the injury. “You are here. So, you will eat, and I will treat your injury before I speak. Don’t forget the terms,” he said with a grim expression, and Sheila felt helpless.

When she begged him not to divorce her, he refused but was now using it against her. She raged, “You are so

shameless to use the divorce as bait.”

Alpha Nick ignored her outcry and focused on the waiter. “Waiter, ice pack.”

The waiter nodded and left. Soon, she returned with an ice pack. Alpha Nick pulled Sheila’s hand and carefully pressed the ice pack to it. Sheila’s hand curled as the cold substance seeped through her hand, and she tried to withdraw it.

patient,” Alpha Nick cautioned. Sheila was amazed by the care in his eyes. It was similar to when he helped with her injury in her teenage years. Unfortunately, Alpha Nick had no idea that she was that teenage girl.

“I will eat first,” she said and withdrew her hand. “It’s much better, thank you.” Her attention was directed at the table of dishes, just so she wouldn’t be ambushed by his ceaseless questions.

It was useless for him to care about her now because she had grown used to his aloofness.

Alpha Nick paid careful attention to her food choices on the table, noticing how she gave the grilled chicken and Tuna salad more attention. Then she poured herself red wine.

He figured that Tuna salad, grilled chicken, and red wine were her favorites.

Sheila felt his gaze on her, and it made her uncomfortable. “Are you just going to watch me eat?”

Alpha Nick stepped out of his trance, as he smiled at her. Her graceful way of eating made him wonder about the family she came from.

It didn’t seem like she was from a poor family like she said. “Care to share the names of your parents?”

Sheila stiffened instantly. It was hard to control it when she wasn’t his wife. She just wanted to be herself, but who knew it would make Alpha Nick suspicious of her?

“They are dead. No point making their ashes uncomfortable by mentioning their names. You are not eating,” she pointed out, redirecting the topic once again.

hadn’t eaten anything. There no appetite for food, wondering why he suggested lunch when they could

have had coffee.

Still, seeing Sheila eating freely made it all worth it. It seemed that the divorce gave Sheila freedom, but Alpha Nick felt rather imprisoned.

Sheila finished her meal with a sip of red wine. “You have a great taste for wine,” she complimented like a queen,

and Alpha Nick was stunned.

“I’m flattered,” he wiped the corners of his lips and spoke.

Sheila waved dismissively. “It’s not as if we are having a romantic dinner. I’m done eating, so let it out.”

Alpha Nick didn’t have to hold back this time. “I was surprised to see the gift you left for me,” he said with a bitter

smile.

“I’m lost here,” Sheila replied honestly, confusion settling in her eyes.

“Your trainees,” he said directly, and Sheila’s expression softened instantly. She couldn’t say that she didn’t miss them. “How are they coping?”

Alpha Nick didn’t hold back the truth from her. “Your presence is missed. I couldn’t find a way to tell them about

the divorce.”

Sheila frowned deeply. How shameless could he be? “Let me guess. You want me to clean up your mess for you.”

To her shock, he shook his head in refusal. “No. I want you to come tell them that you are traveling for a while.”

“What?” Sheila was shocked. To her understanding, he wants the pack members to think that they were still together when there was nothing between them. Judging by Sheila’s expression, Alpha Nick feared that she’ll refuse and explained further.

“It’s simple. Charlotte is not capable of handling the pack. The difference between a weak and strong Luna is so obvious, it would make the pack vulnerable.”

Sheila’s eyes welled up when she realized that in all that he was doing, he was just trying to cover up Charlotte’s weakness. It wasn’t as if she really mattered to him.

“I can’t do this. I will come and announce our divorce to them,” Sheila fought back the tears threatening to spill
