Alpha Nick stared at Sheila behind the steering wheel, but before he could say anything, she sped off. A small smile played at the corner of his lips. âJust you wait, Sheila. I will soon uncover the mystery surrounding you.â
He couldnât understand why he suddenly took an interest in knowing things he didnât know about her before. Perhaps it was all due to his initial perception of her.
He thought she was marrying him for money, but the moment she rejected it, something strange stirred inside
him.
âDid you say something?â Charlotte asked from behind him, startling him. She was so insecure about his being alone with Sheila that she couldnât help but follow them.
To her amazement, Sheila had left, but Alpha Nick was standing there like a pillar of salt. If not for Charlotteâs presence, he would have remained so. Her arms were gently wrapped around him from the back, and Alpha Nick frowned slightly before pulling away.
He hated clinginess but didnât know how to explain it to her. âCharlotte, please stop the public display of affection. We are in the midst of pack members, and you saw how it almost caused problems for us.â
Charlotte pouted, not offended by his resistance since she already got what she wanted. Sheila had left but also Introduced Charlotte to the pack members. They had no choice but to submit to her.
âIâm sorry. Itâs just that Iâm not as strong as Sheila, so Iâm afraid theyâd hate me,â she put on a pitiful look, hoping that Alpha Nick would show her more affection in front of the pack members to make them understand what she
meant to him.
âNo one has the right to hate the Alphaâs mate, do you understand?â He said seriously, his gaze a little dark. That wasnât the response Charlotte wanted, so she asked,
âYes, so can you personally train me tomorrow?â
She was surprised to see the sorrowful look in his eyes. âI wonât be around tomorrow.â
âWhy?â Charlotte was desperate, frowning as worry overwhelmed her. Alpha Nick wanted to be alone to check the report the investigator sent, but knowing that Charlotte wouldnât understand, he rather said,

Light shone in Charlotteâs eyes with increased excitement. Finally, Sheila was going to be out of their lives for good. Then Charlotte would become the Luna, having access to all of the packâs resources.
No one would be able to stop her from helping herself with as much as she needed. From the look of things, she no longer had to go back to her old life as it was more respectable being with Alpha Nick.
She would find a way to pay off her helpers. âThen we can mate and mark each other,â she remarked.
Alpha Nick suddenly tensed up at the mention of mating and marking. It was all he wanted before, but now, he oddly didnât feel the desire for it. Still, it was his obligation to mate with Charlotte and give the pack an heir. He forced a smile. âOf course.â
âAlpha, Iâm sorry for being late. I was supposed to report earlier than this, but I had to take care of a few things in the packhouse,â reported Beta Dustin.
He was speaking with his gaze lowered. Charlotte knew it was a lie as he didnât want to see Sheila, but she didnât expose him.
After all, it was for her betterment if Beta Dustin didnât like Sheila, as he was still upset that those weak pack
members had become strong warriors because of Sheila and not him.
âWhat is that?â Alpha Nick asked seriously, having not heard about any emergency in the packhouse.
Beta Dustinâs gaze lowered, not expecting him to ask. Quickly, he made up something. âSome of the servants were fighting. Itâs nothing serious.â
Alpha Nick hummed but did not dig further, being displeased with Beta Dustinâs inability to bid Sheila a proper
goodbye.
âSince you are here, you train with your trainees, and I will handle the new group.â
âSheilaâs trainees?â Charlotte asked with a deep frown, recalling Anita. How could she allow that little wench close to Alpha Nick? Somehow, Alpha Nick didnât like the way she addressed those warriors.
âSheila is no longer here. They are now my trainees.â There was a tinge of pride in his voice as he said those words. Sheila had entrusted them to him
and he didnât plan to let her down after all her hard work.

âI agree, but can you stay away from Anita?â Charlotte asked directly before biting her tongue for being indiscipline. How could she take back her words?
âWhy?â Alpha Nick curiously asked. Charlotteâs brain couldnât process any proper lie, so she blurted out the
truth.
âSheâs too close to Sheila.â
Alpha Nickâs brows drew together, not understanding what his mate meant by that. âIs there something wrong
with that?â
Charlotte was out of excuses. She thought about using her parentsâ burnedâdown house in the Bane pack, all thanks to Sheila. âNo. I justâ¦â
âI think you should join Dustinâs team for now,â Alpha Nick cut in and revealed. Drawing from Charlotteâs utterances, he didnât think it was right for her to train with Sheilaâs trainees, thereby making it so.
âBut I want to be with your team,â Charlotte insisted, not pleased with training away from her mate when the likes of Anita were there. Her presence would keep reminding Alpha Nick of Sheila.
Alpha Nick refused. âYou join Dustin, and I will still train you later in private.â
There was no way out of the situation with Alpha Nickâs stern voice, so she reluctantly agreed, âAlright.â
When Alpha Nick returned to the gym to announce the changes, it didnât go down well with the warriors as they equally wanted to train with their Alpha.
âAlpha, shouldnât it be rotational?â Adelaide asked. Everyone saw how difficult it was for Beta Dustin to take down Calister. It posed a great challenge for them to train harder than before.
âYou are already strong,â Alpha Nick explained, weighing his options and feeling like he was needed more by
Sheilaâs team.
âThey are too. We have seen their skills,â Warrick pointed out, and everyone agreed. Alpha Nick thought for al
while and voiced out,
âAlright. Letâs move training to the open. We should all train together.â
Beta Dustin was displeased but didnât have a choice. Thanks to Sheila, his weakness was exposed. His hatred for

After the warmâup stage to the serious ones, Alpha Nick realized that Sheilaâs team didnât need the kind of help he thought. They indeed wanted to make their teacher proud.
Training was over, so Alpha Nick went to his office before Charlotte could catch up to him, as he was eager to view the report. After reading it, disappointment strangled his throat.
