Chapter 79

“Sheila, can we meet?”

Sheila was slightly nervous at the other end of the line. She was afraid of betraying herself if she saw Alpha Nick again. The man who used to be cold and aloof was suddenly giving her so much attention, which was scary.

“What for?” she asked in annoyance. Alpha Nick felt relieved that she did not outright refuse and hang up on him. He owed her so much, and she happened to be the only woman he ever slept with.

He might be selfish, but he wasn’t giving up on her. “Please, I just want to talk.”

“Nick…” Sheridan was about to refuse, but Alpha Nick cut in,

“Please Sheila. I’m begging you. If you refuse, I will come and stay at your pack. Dustin is willing to take care of my pack in my absence. I want to see your dad, and I don’t care if your seven brothers beat me up. You leave me no choice,” he said with determination.

Alpha Nick was ready to shoulder all the blame if he met with Sheila’s father.

Sheridan was certain that her father would just punish Alpha Nick a little before pushing her into his arms.

“What is the location?” she asked, and Alpha Nick was a little relieved. Her acceptance to meet him did not mean she accepted him back, but it was still a stepping stone.

“I will pick you up at 5 pm,” he said softly. Sheridan almost rolled her eyes. It felt strange that he spoke to her in this tone.

“No. Let me meet you halfway,” she responded, not wanting him near the pack to raise suspicion. Alpha Nick refused, determined to meet her parents to explain everything to them. He wanted Sheila back and would do anything for her to return to him.

“I am the one asking for the date, so please get ready. I’m coming over.” The call ended soon after, with Sheridan releasing a frustrated sigh.

As soon as she lowered her hand holding the phone to her ear, she heard a deep voice behind her. “I hope you are not going back to that loser?” Arnold asked seriously. After receiving the news from their parents about Sheridan’s pregnancy, they went from extremely caring to extremely doting.

harder, dealing with Alpha Nick or her elder brothers. They still saw her as that little girl in spite of all she had achieved and were so protective of her.

Arnold reprimanded her, “Sherry, you are pregnant, so stay away from him. What if you get injured?” He just didn’t want his unborn niece or nephew to suffer any predicament.

This was the first grandchild to be welcomed into the family, so they all needed to take great care of him or her. Sheridan knew he was right, but Alpha Nick was crazy and would do as he had said.

“I will be careful. It would take hours for him to get here anyway,” she said calmly, internally nervous about meeting Alpha Nick again. Gone were the days when she stayed at home, waiting for the slightest sign of him. Now, his presence to her was unwanted.

“Great. I just made you breakfast,” Dara said. Being the third of the seven brothers, he was also the best cook among them, but his mate, Chaya, was even better.

“Did you make it, or did Chaya?” Sheridan teased him when he brought food to her on a platter. Sheridan tasted the food and closed her eyes. It was delicious.

“She’s my mate, so either way, we did it together. But hey, if our baby turns out to be a boy, you should name him after me,” Dara said seriously. Sheridan opened her eyes instantly. Before she could respond, Arnold disagreed.

“That won’t happen. I’m the Alpha. My having an heir is more urgent than all of you.”

Sheridan was not liking this. Her thought about keeping her baby from Alpha Nick did not mean she wanted to give him or her up to either of her brothers. “Please, you have your mates. Make love to them every night until you have your own kids, but as for this child, he or she is mine alone.”

Her words caused Chaya, who was pouring a fruit drink for Sheridan, to blush. Who said Dara was not trying? They did it every night, but still, there were no signs. Sheila did it just once, and boom, she’s pregnant without a mate.

“Don’t be mean. I know it’s a he and a Warner, for that matter. He should be mine,” Dara insisted, rubbing Sheridan’s stomach.

Sheridan could not bear to waste time with them when Alpha Nick was on the way. She ate half of the dish before pushing the platter away. “Just let the baby be born first.”

Arnold picked up the platter and, seeing she left so much meat, began to devour them

as he spoke. “You shouldn’t see him again. Alpha Nick is stubborn. If he finds out you are carrying his child, you won’t have a choice but to return to him, love or no love.”

“By then, you should allow me to teach him a lesson first,” Jace, the sixth born, said. He had just entered the living room after making arrangements for some arriving guests, being Alphas and Betas.

Sheridan was having mixed feelings, not knowing if Alpha Nick deserved her brothers wrath. “He didn’t really do anything to me, other than being cold.”

Arnold disagreed and chimed in. “That is something. He respects the mate bond and should stay with it. This child is ours, and I prefer that you don’t make arrangements to see him today.”

Sheridan had a headache due to her big brothers‘ attitude. How could she not see Alpha Nick when he was already on his way? “He’s already on his way here.”

“What if he finds out?” Dara sat beside her and asked. Sheridan thought carefully, just as an idea popped into her mind.

“I think I have a plan.”

“Let’s hear it,” Dara and Jace said simultaneously.

Sheila leaned in and whispered something to them. A frown lined the corner of their faces before Jace asked, “Are you sure it would work?”

“I’m most certain,” Sheridan said reassuringly.

A few hours later, Alpha Nick arrived, but Sheila was already waiting for him in front of the pack gate. She wore a luxury jumper and three–inch heels with light makeup. Her hair was let loose, giving her an elegant look.

Before Alpha Nick got down to open the door for her, she hurried to the passenger side, opened it, and sat. “Let’s go.”

Alpha Nick sighed, not willing to leave without speaking to her father. “I have to say a word or two to your father. Why are you in a hurry, and why were you outside?” he asked worriedly. The weather was getting chilly these days.

Sheridan, not wanting to give any hints, quickly asked, “Where are you taking me?”

She managed to take Alpha Nick’s attention off his worries from before as he responded, “That is a surprise.”

Chapter 79

Sheridan frowned, afraid of being alone with him but not able to say it directly. “I’m not spending more than two hours with you.”

Alpha Nick shook his head. He planned to spend a lot of time with her, and two hours were just not enough. But since she lived with her parents, it was understandable for her not to stay out late.

“Then let me see your dad. The surprise would take the whole night,” he said honestly. Not wanting him to see her father, she reluctantly agreed.

“Let’s just go.”

Alpha Nick’s lips curled up, determination screaming in his heart as he replied warmly, “Okay, but when we return, I’m seeing your dad.” Sheridan stiffened instantly.
