0022| Evening Encounters

MY DADDYS BEST FRIEND||18+

Arabella Armani

After their time on the beach, Arabella and her friends made their way back to the resort, their laughter still echoing in the warm evening air. The sun had set, casting a soft glow over the island. The trio was in good spirits, their earlier conversation in the water helping to lighten the mood.

As they entered the resort lobby, Sarah nudged me with a playful grin. "So, what's the plan for tonight? We could hit the lounge, maybe dance a little?"

I smiled, feeling a bit more like myself . "That sounds perfect. Let's grab a quick shower and meet back here in an hour."

Carter gave a mock salute. "Yes, ma'am. Time to freshen up and turn some heads."

They all laughed, parting ways to get ready for the night ahead.

An hour later, i stood in front of the mirror, adjusting her dress. The flowy, tropical- animal like patterned fabric was perfect for the evening, and she couldn't help but feel a bit more confident. She took a deep breath, reminding herself that tonight was about having fun and letting go.

Sarah and Carter were waiting for her in the lobby, both looking refreshed and ready for the night. They complimented each other's outfits, their excitement palpable.

The resort's lounge was lively, filled with guests enjoying drinks, music, and the warm island vibe. The trio found a cozy spot near the bar, ordering cocktails and chatting about their plans for the next day.

As they settled in, I couldn't help but notice Alessio and Sophia across the room, sitting at a table near the window. They seemed deep in conversation, but Alessio's eyes occasionally flicked over to where we were sitting.

Sarah leaned in, following my gaze. "Don't let them get to you. Remember, we're here to have fun."

I nodded, tearing her eyes away. "You're right. Let's just focus on enjoying ourselves."

Carter raised his glass. "To a night of fun and forgetting about everything else."

We clinked glasses, taking sips of our drinks. The music picked up, and soon the dance floor was calling their names. I allowed myself to be pulled into the rhythm, the music drowning out my thoughts.

As we danced, Carter's antics had them all in stitches, his exaggerated moves drawing attention and laughter from other guests.

I felt myself relaxing, the weight of the day slowly lifting.

After a while, we returned to our table, breathless and grinning. The night was turning out better than i had expected.

I glanced over at Alessio again, noticing he was now standing by the bar, his eyes fixed on her.

Before i could react, Alessio made his way over, his expression unreadable. "Arabella , can we talk?"

My heart skipped a beat, but i maintained her composure. "I'm not sure now's the best time."

Alessio hesitated, his eyes searching hers. "Please. Just a few minutes."

Sarah and Carter exchanged glances but stayed quiet, giving me the space to decide. i sighed, setting my drink down. "Fine. Let's step outside."

We walked out onto the terrace, the cool night air a welcome contrast to the warmth of the lounge. Alessio turned to face her, his expression softer now.

"I'm sorry if my being here with Sophia upset you. It wasn't my intention."

I crossed my arms, my voice steady. "It's not just about you being here with her, Alessio. It's about how things have been between us. You say one thing, but your actions say another."

He ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident. "I know I've been confusing. I didn't handle things well. Sophia isn't... it's complicated. But she's not who I want."

My eyes narrowed. "Then why bring her here? Why kiss her?"

"I didn't think you'd care after everything," he admitted, his voice low. "I was trying to move on, but it's not that simple."

I shook her head, my emotions a mix of hurt and anger. "You can't just play with people's feelings, Alessio. I need to know where we stand."

He stepped closer, his voice earnest. "I care about you, Arabella. More than I should, given the circumstances. But I don't want to hurt you."

I looked away, tears threatening to spill. "Then don't. If you can't be honest with me, maybe it's best if we keep our distance."

Alessio nodded slowly, his shoulders sagging. "I understand. I just... I hope we can figure this out."

Without another word, I turned and walked back inside, my heart heavy. I rejoined Sarah and Carter, forcing a smile as i sat down. They didn't press me for details, instead offering their silent support.

As the night wore on, i resolved to focus on herself and the trip. Whatever happened with Alessio, i needed to put my happiness first.

I sat down beside Sarah and Carter, who immediately picked up on my mood.

"You good?" Sarah asked softly, giving her a reassuring squeeze on the arm.

I nodded, forcing a smile. "I will be. Let's just enjoy the night."

Carter, ever the mood lifter, grinned and gestured to the dance floor. "That's the spirit. Come on, let's get back out there."

Before we could make our way, a group of guys approached our table, clearly interested.

One of them, a tall, confident-looking guy with a charming smile, stepped forward. "Hey, mind if we join you? You all look like you're having a great time."

I exchanged glances with Sarah and Carter, who both shrugged, grinning. "Sure," Sarah said, scooting over to make room.

The guys introduced themselves, and it wasn't long before the conversation turned light and flirty. The guy who had initially approached, named Jake, seemed particularly interested in me.

"You've got some serious moves out there," Jake said, nodding towards the dance floor. "Think you could teach me a thing or two?"

I smirked, the idea forming in her mind. If Alessio wanted to play games, I could too. "Maybe. Let's see what you've got."

I stood, leading Jake onto the dance floor. Sarah and Carter exchanged knowing looks but didn't intervene, happy to let Arabella have her fun. As the music pulsed, arabella and Jake began to dance, their movements fluid and in sync. She leaned into the moment, allowing herself to let loose.

Out of the corner of her eye, I noticed Alessio standing near the bar, his gaze locked on me. I could see the tension in his posture, his jaw clenched as he watched me dance with Jake. The flicker of jealousy in his eyes was exactly what I had hoped for.

Jake spun me around, his hands resting lightly on my waist as we moved to the rhythm. "You're amazing," he complimented, his voice close to her ear. "I'm glad I came over."

I smiled, her confidence growing. "Thanks. You're not so bad yourself."

The song ended, and we returned to the table, both a little breathless. Jake handed me a drink, his eyes sparkling. "Here's to the best dance partner I've had all night."

I clinked my glass with his, taking a sip. I could still feel Alessio's eyes on me, the tension between us palpable. Despite the turmoil inside, i felt a small sense of satisfaction. If Alessio thought he could bring Sophia and act like it didn't matter, i was more than capable of showing him otherwise.

As the night went on, we continued to dance and laugh, the atmosphere light and carefree. I immersed myself in the moment, enjoying the attention from Jake and the camaraderie with my friends. For now, k was determined to push aside my complicated feelings for Alessio and focus on having a good time.

But deep down, i knew this was just the beginning of a complicated game, one that neither of them seemed ready to walk away from.
