Chapter 154
Unfinished Business with You
Chapter 154
Olivia pointed at the stir-fried tomato with scrambled eggs. âMr. Nolan, please try this one. This one
tasted fine. I know because Iâve tried some.â Instead of saying delicious, she used the word âfineâ
because she didnât expect the food to be tasty to them. In the meantime, Eugene only kept a straight
face and ate some of the scrambled eggs while Olivia watched. âHow does it taste?â she asked.
âNot bad.â Eugene nodded. âItâs pretty good, actually. How come you said youâre bad at cooking? Your
dishes are fine.â Nevertheless, North meanly disclosed his motherâs secret and said, âEgg fried rice and
stir-fried tomato with scrambled eggs are my momâs specialty. If we donât order takeout, Mom will
usually prepare either pasta, stir-fried tomato with scrambled eggs, or egg fried rice.â Upon hearing her
son, Olivia looked askance at him and replied, âWell, these three dishes are what keeps you fed most
of the time. Arenât you tall and handsome now anyway?â
âLetâs just say I have better genes than you do,â North blurted out, rendering Olivia speechless.
However, Eugene was amused upon hearing that. Thatâs right! Olivia and her son both share the
perfect gene.
âCome to my place next time, North. All you have to do is just tell me what your craving is, and your
Uncle Eugene will make it for you.â Nonetheless, Olivia replied in a defensive manner, âNo thanks, weâll
be fine with the stores around here. Itâs pretty convenient actually.â
At the same time, Eugene seemingly also noticed that Olivia was afraid of staying in touch with him,
thus he comforted the lady and said, âItâs alright. I just want to thank North for doing me such a huge
favor. You both could visit me anytime, and Iâll promise to make anything you crave for.â
While Olivia only treated those words as pleasantry, North shifted his eyes to his mother with
excitement and happiness.
âIn that case, let me thank you with a toast, Mr. Nolan. Youâve helped me so much, like the time we
were in the hotel and the accident I was caught in. Honestly, I donât know how I can thank you. So,
please let me know if there is anything I can help with in the future.â
Eugene raised his glass and said, âDonât worry about that. Itâs the least I could do. If youâre keeping
scores, Iâm going to have to thank you for saving my grandpa. Moreover, considering the huge favor
North just did me, we can go on and on forever.â In response, Olivia smiled embarrassedly and replied,
âAlright then, maybe we should cut the pleasantries and be ourselves then. Come, letâs drink!â While
gazing at her, Eugene chugged the wine in his glass whereupon he suddenly recalled Oliviaâs glacial
look in the hotel that day. Feeling sentimental, he said, âThatâs right! Thatâs how you do it. Smile more,
and never live your life for anyone else.â
Eugeneâs words put a smile on Oliviaâs face. âYeah, youâre right. Iâm feeling a lot better now as I no
longer value peopleâs opinions before mine.â
âExactly. If you canât get along with anyone, itâs not necessarily your problem. In fact, youâre
outstanding and exceptional to me, so you donât have to give two hoots about what people think of
you,â Eugene answered.
Olivia responded with a chuckle. âYeah. By the way, would you like to try this fish, Mr. Nolan? I havenât
tried it, but it looks pretty good.â Eugene replied, âSure.â Since the first dish he tried was acceptable, he
didnât think much before taking a bite of the meat. However, as soon as he put the flesh into his mouth,
he sensed a weird taste that he wasnât able to describe. Concerned with Oliviaâs feelings, Eugene
swallowed it anyway and gritted his teeth while saying, âI-Itâs not bad!â
Olivia asked in surprise, âReally? Let me try some.â Then, she scooped some of the fish and put it into
her mouth. âWhy does it taste so funny?â However, Eugene chuckled embarrassedly and said, âItâs fine.
Itâs just that every cook prepares it in a different way, so I guess Iâll get used to it soon.â Meanwhile,
Olivia stared at the fish doubtfully, wondering why the recipe that Kate gave her didnât work.
