Chapter 263
Unfinished Business with You
Chapter 263
When Olivia called, Kate and Jasper were having a meal outside.
âWhatâs up, sister?â Kate asked.
Oliviaâs voice came through. âGeorge has asked us to have a gathering tomorrow evening. Come over
earlier tomorrowâweâll meet at the restaurant on Riverdale Street!â
âAlright, but itâs on me tomorrow. No one else is allowed to pick up the tab!â
Olivia smiled. âNo problem, youâll have the opportunity, but you have to help me out on something!â
Kate asked, âWhat is it?â
Olivia sounded slightly embarrassed. âWell, Eugene had sent me breakfast this morning , but George
saw it. I have no other choice but to lie that you were the one who sent it to me.â
Kate was shocked. âWhat? Eugene made breakfast for you?â
Olivia quickly said, âShhh, please lower your voice! Do you want the entire world to know?â
Kate was nonchalant about it. âWhatâs wrong with that? If I were you, I would definitely show it off to the
entire world.â
Olivia said, âThatâs you, not me. I donât want anyone else to know about this. Remember, if George
asks about it, tell him that you made it. If he doesnât, you can forget it. He doesnât seem suspicious
about it to me.â
Kate laughed. âAlright, I got it. But hey, you have to tell me what Iâve made, right?â
âSpicy lobster, sautéed lily bulbs with celery, congee...â
When she heard that, she giggled. âPresident Nolan knows how to cook, huh?â
Olivia replied, âI think he made the vegetables, but the rest was bought.â
Kate asked, âNo matter what, he surely treats you well enough, but why are you afraid of letting George
know?â
Olivia couldnât explain this on the phone, so she forcefully said, âNo matter what, I canât let him know
about it.â
Kate said, âYou are avoiding the question. Tell me, does George like you too?â
âThatâs all. Bye!â
With that, Olivia hung up.
Upon looking at the phone after Olivia ended the call, Kate couldnât help but smile. Sheâs doomed this
time! Two men are trying to pursue her concurrently. Letâs see what sheâs going to do about it!
While looking at her, Jasper asked, âIs this your best friend?â
âYeah.â
âIs her son alright?â
Kate replied, âHeâs fine. He even picked up the phone the last time I called her. I heard that Olivia had
nightmares last night, but itâs fine now.â
While cutting the steak, he replied, âThatâs good then.â
He had been studying abroad all the while and only returned not long ago to open a local jewelry store.
It was at a fashion party that he heard of the magazine publisher, âBourgeoisie Lifeâ.
Initially, he wanted to use the opportunity to collaborate with the magazine publisher to form a working
relationship with Kate, so that he could become closer to Eugene. After all, connections would be a
powerful resource in the current society.
After interacting with her, Jasper slowly developed a liking toward her. She was kind, passionate, and
straightforward. On top of that, she was quite humorous at times. Soon, everything else didnât seem so
important to him.
âThe steak from this restaurant is pretty authentic. Try this.â Jasper pushed the steak that he had just
sliced in front of her.
Kate smiled. âThanks. You are exceptionally polite. Is everyone who studied abroad a gentleman?â
He replied, âYou canât generalize everything. Not everyone who studies abroad is chivalrous. Some of
them might look decent, but they can be quite immoral.â
She laughed out loud. âSo, you are actually one of those people?â
He laughed. âHavenât you realized that decency and immoral arenât contradictory? If the same person is
being treated both ways, the perpetrator is a gentleman indeed!â
After thinking about it, Kate thought that Jasperâs explanation was rather reasonable. Men are beasts,
after all! âWell, at least you look like a gentleman. Iâm not even ladylike,â she said in exasperation.
