Chapter 269
Unfinished Business with You
Chapter 269
Even though the present was slightly old-fashioned, Melanie was undeniably attracted by the money.
Sure enough, heâs rich and handsome!
If this man belongs to me, I swear I wonât be looking at any other men in the future.
Nathan treats me well, but he is really stingy.
When she was deep in her thoughts, she saw Kate walking out of the parlor from the corner of her
eyes. A sudden thought flitted across her mind. Aha! I was just worried that my frustration had nowhere
to be released!
Then, she told Nathan gently, âNate, Iâm going to the washroom.â
Nathan was deep in conversations with Olivia and the rest, so he merely replied, âGo ahead.â
A cold smile appeared on Melanieâs lips as she walked out of the parlor.
Olivia took a sip of the tea in front of her, also revealing a vindictive smile. A leopard never changes its
spot. Sheâs bound to reveal her true self some time.
She raised her head and looked at George. Then, the both of them exchanged smiles.
On the other hand, Nathan was still speaking enthusiastically, âDo you still remember when Tiger just
arrived? He hid himself when he saw us giving injections. The patients were calm, but he himself burst
into tears. Is he much better now?â
George replied, âYeah, heâs just afraid of needles. After that, I asked him to be the receptionist instead.â
Nathan smiled. âGood idea. Tiger is smart, and heâs good with money. Is he in his twenties now? When
I was there, he was only around 15.â
George replied, âYou are only three years older than him, yet you make it sound like heâs much younger
than you.â
Olivia chuckled. âHowever, at that time, Nathan didnât look like he was just three years older than him.
He was very tall; Tiger was probably intimidated by him.â
When they were still chatting away, Nathanâs phone suddenly rang. After seeing the caller ID, he
picked it up perplexedly. âWhatâs wrong, Mel?â
Melanie choked. âNate, please carry on. I-Iâll leave first.â
Nathan frowned. âWhy? Come stay with us for a while longer. Weâll leave together.â
âN-No. You guys carry on. Iâll go back in a taxi.â
Her voice sounded sad on the phone.
Nathanâs face darkened as he frowned. âWhere are you?â
âIâm at the hotel lobby,â Melanie answered. âBut you donât have to come here. Iâm fine. I-Iâm just not
feeling too well, so I would like to go home first. You donât have to worry about me.â
The more she said, the more Nathan felt that something was wrong. He got up immediately to open the
door of the parlor.
Immediately, he saw Melanie standing at the lobby, fully drenched. Water dripped from her clothes, and
her cheeks looked swollen. When she saw her, her eyes turned red immediately.
Nathan strode over to her. âMel, what happened to you? Who did this?â
Melanie merely looked at him aggrievedly. Even though she said nothing, the reluctance was clearly
shown in her eyes, sending a clear messageâshe had been bullied.
Worried, Nathan quickly asked the waiter for a towel and wiped the water from her face. Then, he took
his jacket off and put it on her.
âWhat happened? Tell me!â
Melanie looked at Olivia, North, and George in the parlor fearfully.
âKatie said that this was a private gathering between a few of you, and I wasnât included at all. She
blamed you for ordering the dish for me, and she said that I shouldnât be here. She even said that I was
f*cking disgusting when I cried. I tried to reason with her, but she slapped me right after. Then, she
poured a bucket of water on me in the washroom.â
Nathanâs face immediately darkened. If she had given him other reasons, he might not have believed
her. But he definitely believed that Kate would say such words. On top of that, she was not afraid of
showing her viciousness in front of him.
Itâs not enough for her to throw tantrums at me, is it? Now, she even started attacking Melanie!
