Chapter 462
Unfinished Business with You
Chapter 462
Eugene glanced over at Olivia. âIsnât Laraâs company the most important thing to her? How will she
react if I bought the Roberts Group?â
âUnder the Nolan Group? Isnât your dad also a shareholder at the Roberts Group? He wonât agree to it.â
He scowled at her. âIâm the head of the Nolan Family!â
âI think your dad still deserves to know about Laraâs true colors!â
He scoffed. âEdward and Lara have been married for so long. Do you really think he doesnât know what
kind of person she is?â
Olivia looked at him. âThatâs because your dad feels like he owes Lara because he married someone
else even though she saved him and even got disfigured. But will that still be the case once he finds
out the truth? Also, donât you think there was something fishy about that fire? Why did Lara leave the
country and come back again? You should be looking into all of this!â
Even though he did not say anything, he knew that she was right.
Grabbing his hand, she continued, âI know you didnât make any promises to your mom, but youâre the
one whoâs not planning on forgiving him. You donât necessarily have to see things through to the end if
you want to punish someone. If you make him aware of the truth and let him regret the actions he took
back then, wouldnât it be more meaningful to see him repent to your mom?â
His eyes closed as he held her in his arms. âBefore this, I was never able to understand. He was the
one who wronged my mother, so why couldnât I take revenge on him?â
âWhat about now? Is it still hard to understand?â
Shaking his head, he said, âNot anymore. Youâre right. I have to make him live in regret forever. He has
to live the rest of his life in atonement to my mom!â
She nodded. âYes. Letâs secretly do some digging on our own first. We donât want Lara to bring harm to
Grandpa when she starts to panic.â
âI know.â
The next day, it had been three days since Eugene went to Promise Island and failed to show up at
work.
As a result, people at the company started speculating amongst themselves.
âPresident Nolan hasnât been to work for three days now. This is a miracle!â
âEven Curtis doesnât know where he is. It almost feels like heâs gone missing.â
âYou donât think someone couldâve abducted our president, do you?â
âWhat are you saying? Who would be bold enough to abduct him?â
At this moment, a woman suddenly stood out. âIs President Nolan someone you can talk about behind
his back? Have you all finished your work?â
The crowd dispersed. Someone asked in a small voice, âWho is that?â
âSamantha Yapp. She was hired a few days ago as the presidentâs new secretary.â
âWeâre secretaries too. Why is she such a snob?â
âI heard she was the first secretary of the foreign company, Kanes Corporation. She has managed
several big projects before. She also holds the record for sealing the most business deals within a year.
No one has been able to surpass her to date.â
âOh, no wonder sheâs such a snob. But why did she quit?â
âWho knows? Letâs just focus on our jobs and not get on her bad side.â
When Eugene came back to work, all the chatter stopped abruptly and the speculations that were
made earlier were instantly disproved.
The moment he arrived at his office, Samantha walked up to him. âPresident Nolan.â
A frown appeared on his forehead when he saw the woman who was dressed in Nolan Groupâs work
attire and who had a small face with big eyes, a small mouth, and a pointed chin. She was quite
beautiful but seemed unfamiliar to him.
âYou areâ¦â
She had a put-together smile on her face. âIâm Samantha Yapp, your new secretary. I started three
days ago.â
He was stunned as if he was unaware of such a thing.
Before this, Curtis had interviewed her. They were going to hire a salesperson, but she came to apply
for the position as the presidentâs secretary. Because she had a brilliant resume, Curtis brought it up to
Eugene who then hired her on the spot. He had not met her in person before and had only seen a
photo of her.
