The judge received the photo and video.

The witness’s expression changed abruptly, and he instinctively looked towards Director Liu.

The court was utterly silent.

Everything had been going smoothly until now, as most of the evidence had been deleted by Director Liu, and the witness had not anticipated this turnaround.

“I request the withdrawal of this piece of evidence,” Chi Yundai raised his hand again.

The jury snapped back to reality. Without exchanging many words, just a glance at each other, they dismissed the evidence brought by Zhao Jingzhou, and the first witness was escorted out of the courtroom.

“Here, I have a petition for appeal, along with videos and evidence,” Chi Yundai addressed the judge, “signed by nineteen citizens, appealing with evidence that Liu Xinming repeatedly oppressed his artists, and is suspected of threats and humiliation. Director Liu’s expression finally broke, and he stood up abruptly.

Chi Yundai drew out a lawsuit, with an unstoppable momentum, “My client has no prior criminal record, subjective malice is absent, although murder warrants punishment. However, penal sanctions are meant to rehabilitate, and my client lacks subjective malice and poses a minimal risk. Given the significant fault of Liu Xinming in this case, therefore, we request the court to mitigate and reduce punishment for my client, to uphold judicial justice.”

Director Liu’s party wanted to speak out.

Finally, Chi Yundai looked towards them, “Lastly, Attorney Zhao, are you aware of Liu Xinming’s criminal past?”

“I was not.” Zhao Jingzhou looked deeply at Director Liu and shook his head.

“Hm,” Chi Yundai nodded, “The defense attorney fabricates legal provisions, which gives me reason to doubt his professional ethics. I request an appeal.”

The calm courtroom was like a simmering pot of oil into which a drop of water had just fallen.
