Chapter 113- Death

" Please I'll do anything, just let me know where my daughter is," I said to her hoping she wouldn't end the call. I didn't recognize the voice of the lady speaking.

" Listen to me carefully," She said and I nodded then realizing she couldn't see me I spoke.

" Yes, I'm listening."

" Don't you try any funny business, if you do, your daughter dies." I heard crying in the background as if they were trying to emphasize their point.

" I'll do whatever you say, as long as you give me my daughter,"

" Okay, I'm going to send you an address, make sure you come alone, no police, just you,"

" No funny business, I swear," I said, trying to plead with her.

" I'm glad we have an understanding, because I'm sure my tigers wouldn't mind munching on her little flesh," My heart skipped, I couldn't dare imagine the image of tigers feasting on my baby.

The phone suddenly got disconnected at the same time Rena opened the door.

I almost forgot I was warned not to tell anyone the information I had just learned, I wanted to share it with Rena but I couldn't risk it.

" Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?" Rena asked as she kept the food on the table.

" A ghost? I'm just worried about Alexandra that's all, thank you for the food," I said as I slowly started to eat, I needed the energy to face whatever I was going to encounter where I was going.

I thanked Rena for the food and went into my closet to get something to wear.

When I returned Rena had already left my room.

I was dressed with my hair tied in a ponytail. I opened the message sent to me by the number that called me earlier.

I left my room and walked downstairs just as I was about to open the door I heard Rena call my name. She looked worried.

" I'm just going to the park, I need fresh air."

" Oh, okay," She said as she returned to what she was doing.

I got into the car and drove off heading to the location that was sent to me. The map stopped me in front of a big house, it looked unfinished and abandoned, like a building project the owner didn't live to complete.

I packed my car and stepped down looking around but I didn't see a single soul, so I

made my way inside.

The place was dark and smelt of dirt.

God, I can't believe this was where they had my child, were they planning on getting her sick?

" Well, well, well, what a surprise," A familiar voice said and I turned to where the voice came from, surprised to find her there.

" Fiona?"

" Surprise!! " I shouldn't be surprised but I was, she didn't like me a single bit but I didn't expect her to go to this length, she even involved an innocent child.

" Where is she?"

" Come on, don't be like that wouldn't you say hello to me first, I've been nice to your daughter,"

" This isn't the time for joke, where is Alexandra,"

" You know I should commend you for the name, you're good at that. Bring the child," She said. That was when I noticed the woman standing in a corner, she must have been the one who called me.

The lady ran up the stairs and a few minutes later she returned with Alexandra in her arms. She was asleep.

" Give her back to me, isn't that why you called me here?"

" Are you that stupid? Do you think I'll just give her to you like that? With no catch?" She said with scorn on her face.

" What do you want?"

" I want you out of the way, I want Markus to be mine but no, you just had to be in the way, I should have been the one giving him a child, not you,"

" We've talked about this Fiona, nobody asked you to leave,"

" Shut up!!" I was wondering why she had her hand hidden behind her until she brought her hand from behind her pointing a gun at me.

That shut me up instantly.

" Even in the fire, you still managed to escape, you survived, you and this child would have been out of my way and Markus would have been mine," This meant she was behind that fire incident.

" You can have him,"

" Do you think he wants me? He told me he was in love with someone else!! He is supposed to love only me!!" This lady has gone crazy.

"If I can't have him, nobody will."

I was in the police station, they had called me earlier that they had information concerning where my daughter might be and we were getting ready to go there.

My phone started ringing in my pocket and I brought out my phone to see it was a call from Rena, Jane's maid.

" Sir, you have to hurry," That was the first thing she said as I picked.

" What's going on?"

" I think someone called Miss Jane with information concerning the child and I'm sure they warned her to come alone. I was able to get the information from her phone, I already sent it to you also I followed her,"

" Is she okay Rena?" I asked as I started opening my message and I checked the address to see it was the same one as what the police found.

" We'll be there soon, keep me updated," I said before ending the call.

" We need to hurry, my wife is there too," Wife? I've missed the thought of Jane as my wife, if we survive this I was going to make her mine at all costs.

We've been in a staring contest for over twenty minutes. I felt like if I even blinked Fiona was going to pull the trigger.

" Why did you suddenly become quiet? I thought you were trying to prove a point," She mocked.

She still had the gun pointed at me.

" How were you able to get a hold of Alexandra?" Because I didn't understand how a child could get kidnapped from a house that was heavily guarded.

" Simple, there's nothing a good disguise can't do, been with them for days they didn't even notice, all I wanted to do was to look at Markus from afar, but when you came I changed my mind, I couldn't let you have him. Okay okay, I've said too much, it's time for you to go, you might as well say goodbye to your daughter,"

"  Don't do this Fiona, you can't kill me, my daughter needs me," I couldn't die, I had to take care of my daughter, I have to be there for her.

" Please don't do this Fiona,"

" Well, it's too late for that,"

" Ma'am! we're surrounded!" One of the ladies working with Fiona suddenly shouted.

" I thought I warned you to come alone?" Fiona asked with anger in her eyes.

" I didn't bring anyone with me, I don't know what you're talking about,"

" Then who the hell are those people outside?!"

" I don't know!!"

" Take the child away" I heard Fiona order.

" No please, don't take her away,"

" Shut up!"

In anger, Fiona pulled the trigger at me but I dodged the bullet, this made her so angry.

I tried running up the stairs to go after them but Fiona pushed me and I fell off twisting my ankle. Now wasn't the time to be twisting ankles.

" You thought you could win? This is the end,"

Everything happened so fast, I was expecting death but I felt someone covering me taking the bullet that was meant for me as the body went limp.

I didn't know who it was until I pushed the body as I saw Markus.

" Markus!! oh my God, what have you done?!!" There was so much blood I didn't know what to do.

" Jane," He tried to speak.

" Don't say anything, stay with me, please,"

' I…I… I'm sorry for…" He coughed, bringing out blood from his mouth, I was so scared.

" All the pains I caused you, I wish I had time to make up for it."

" Don't say that you'll be okay, nothing is going to happen to you, you'll be fine," I tried to encourage him as I noticed police fill the place.

" Call an ambulance!!" I shouted to no one in particular.

" Markus stay with me,"

" I love you Jane," He whispered as he tried to lift his hand to my face but couldn't then he suddenly went limp.

" Markus!! Markus!! No please, don't do this please," But he didn't respond.

This day changed everything in my life.

And I never remained the same.
