466 THE STRANGER WHO IS A FIGHTER
âOh my! Well, isnât this Duke De la Pole and the slave traders. I didnât know you were acquainted.â
A familiar voice spoke.
Duke De la Pole was indeed the first person to come out with a slave trader.
He was the highest-ranked noble. So, the leader of the slave trader escorted him.
Duke De la Pole was startled when his name was mentioned. Up until now, no one called him by his name.
He found the voice was extremely familiar but couldnât figure out where he heard this voice.
He looked up and saw a woman wearing a brown shirt and pants. She had a sword in her hand and a bow and arrows on her back.
The area around her eyes was covered, not showing her face. She had short silver hair.
She was standing there alone. She looked strong and dignified.
.....
The slave trader was scared when he first saw her. But when he noticed that she was alone and there was no one else with her, he regained his courage.
He ordered his henchmen, âWhat are you waiting for? Attack!â
His henchmen drew their swords and moved forward.
The woman with silver hair slid her left leg backward. Her posture was relaxed.
The moment the henchmen came forward the girl struck first. She slashed four henchmenâs chests with a single strike.
Blood splattered everywhere. The four bodies dropped at the same time.
The girlâs fearless eyes laid on the slave trader. âLooks like you have a shortage of men. Still want to fight?â
The slave trader glared at her. He took out a magic stone and threw it at the girl.
The stone instantly became a fireball as it proceeded to hit the girl.
The girl narrowed her eyes. She waited for the fireball to come closer.
Only then did she strike and with a single hit she sliced the fireball into four pieces.
The slave trader was shocked. âThatâs⦠thatâs not possible.â
The girl looked at him, enjoying his shocked eyes. âCriminal, you have no idea whatâs possible.â
After that, she hit his head with the back of her sword and knocked him out.
Other nobles and slave traders came out of the tunnel. They saw the mess and freaked out.
Duke De la Pole was so afraid that he fell to the ground before the girl could do anything.
âWho is this woman? Iâve never seen her before. How does she know my name? How can she defeat so many men? I need to get out.â
As he was thinking all that, the girl looked at him.
He quickly crawled back, fearing for his life.
âPlease spare me. You want money, right? Iâll pay you. I have gold coins.â
His beg didnât seem to affect the girl. She stepped forward with a cold look on her face.
âDuke, arenât you begging too much? It doesnât fit your noble appearance.â
She crouched in front of him and continued, âYou should have thought twice before harming innocent people for your selfish need.
âDidnât you imagine what will bring you to doing all these? Itâs too late now.â
While she was talking, she noticed that Duke De la Poleâs eyes moved behind her back for a second.
At that moment, the girl also felt a presence behind her. She instantly moved away from Duke De la Pole.
âAck!â
In the end, the attackerâs sword pierced through Duke De La Poleâs chest.
He opened his mouth wide. The pain was unbearable. His eyes looked at the attacker in disbelief.
The attacker was a slave trader. He wanted to kill the woman who was blocking their way, not the duke.
Realizing what he had done, the slave traderâs face turned pale.
âTsk, tsk, and here I was thinking how to deal with the Duke. Thank you for dirtying your hands for me,â the girl said. She was standing not too far from them.
Duke De la Pole slowly turned to face the girl. His eyes poured pure hatred.
The girl sliced the slave traderâs back. The slave trader dropped to the ground.
Then, she stepped forward and looked at the Duke and said, âI have healing power. I can save your life.â
The Dukeâs eyes changed in a second. His eyes were brimming with tears, pleading to her silently.
âWhat will I gain from saving you? the girl asked. âI donât need money or anything. What can you give me in return?â
Duke De la Pole opened his mouth. However, he couldnât speak as he coughed blood.
The girl crouched once again. She whispered, âI can help you if⦠you can tell the court who is behind the slave trading.
âYou have to name the person who is behind all these. If you can do that, you can save both your life and the title. What do you think?â
Duke De la Pole didnât care about what she was saying. He vigorously nodded without listening properly.
After all, he was dying.
What could possibly be better than getting healed and staying alive?
The girlâs palm glowed with white lighting. Soon, the Duke stopped bleeding.
He sighed in relief. But soon he realized that his pain didnât go away completely.
âIâm in pain,â he weakly stated.
The girl said, âYes, Iâve just healed half of your injury. If you can answer properly tomorrow, Iâll heal you completely.
âDonât even think you can get away with a half-healed injury. You will die in three days. You donât think itâs worth lying in the trial, do you.â
âTrial? What trial?â Duke De la Pole was confused. His face paled.
However, he didnât get any answer from the girl. In the end, he looked around and noticed Imperial Guards.
The guards were arresting all the nobles, the slave traders and their henchmen who were still alive.
An Imperial Guard came forward and tied Duke De la Poleâs wrists.
âDuke De la Pole, you are under arrest for breaking the Imperial Law by doing business with the slave traders. In tomorrowâs trial in front of His Majesty, you will have to admit your crime and confess everything.â
