Chapter 471 - 471 WHO COULD BE THE CULPRIT?
Tangled By Fate
471 WHO COULD BE THE CULPRIT?
That very day, Zinnia and Veronica were having a spar. They moved back and forth as their swords classed.
When they were done, Zinnia gave her some instructions to change some moves and then drank a mouthful of water.
Afterward, she wiped her mouth and asked, âDid you hear what happened in the trial?â
âI did,â Veronica replied. âThe Queen is really cunning. She made our hard work go for nothing.â
Zinnia remarked, âItâs not that we werenât expecting her not to befriend the witches.â
âTrue but for her to kill all the nobles who tried to mention herâ¦. even for her itâs a vicious move. How can such a person be the mother of a nation?â
Veronica questioned Queen Isabellaâs principal.
Zinnia shrugged. âYou know, people who are real villains, they donât give a damn whatâs right from wrong. They have their own goals and desires. They are busy fulfilling them. They will brush off your reasons.â
âNo wonder Arthur wants to take her out of the Imperial Palace. Someone like her doesnât deserve that kind of position.â
.....
Veronica clenched her fists. Anger rose deep inside her.
âEnough of the Queen,â Zinnia changed the subject. âWhat do you think of Trevorâs death? Do you really think he is the one who sold your information to the witches?â
Veronica replied, âI thought of it but how would he know when Iâm going out of the tower? Even if itâs him, someone must have been helping him.â
âThat person could be him,â Zinnia commented.
Veronica frowned. âWho?â
However, Zinnia didnât answer. Instead, she threw two shurikens at the pillar.
Veronica noticed a moving shadow. She immediately ran after that.
She noticed a blue aura circling around the shadow. She squinted her eyes.
âIs that person trying to use teleport magic on this floor? Must be a high-level wizard,â she thought.
She threw her dagger at the shadow. Just when the shadow was going to disappear, it was jabbed by a sharp dagger.
The shadow couldnât use the teleportation magic anymore and fell to the ground.
In the blink of an eye, Zinnia reached out and unmasked the person. She recognized that person right away.
She grinned devilishly. âLooks like you have nowhere to flee.â
Veronica also reached the area and was surprised to see the person.
âDave Morton, you have some nerve spying on two ladies, donât you?â she stated.
Dave Morton looked at them with his cunning eyes. He pulled out the dagger from his thigh and stood up.
His face was a bit pale from the pain. Even so, he smiled at them and then politely bowed.
âMistress, Lady Zinnia, itâs wonderful to see you,â he greeted them.
âGuess what, itâs wonderful to see you as well. You made my work easier. I was thinking of looking for the spy for a long time. So, it was you.â
Speaking her mind, Zinnia grabbed him and took him to Oviorâs office. Veronica followed behind.
Ovior was working. He raised his head when he heard a commotion.
Zinnia declared, âOvior, Iâm certain that this guy is the one who passed all the information to Trevor.â
Ovior looked at Dave Morton through his glasses. âYou did?â
Dave Morton smiled. âI think there are some sort of mistakes.â
Zinnia drew her blade and placed it against his throat. âYou better be careful what you say.â
Veronica looked at him and said, âI think you are smart enough to understand what will happen if you lie, Dave.â
Dave Morton looked at her with a sly smile plastered on his face.
âMistress, Iâm smart enough to understand what will happen if I tell the truth.â
Veronica gave him a fake smile. âWhat if I tell you that I will let you go if you tell the truth? You know Iâm saint enough to keep my word, donât you?â
Dave Morton replied, âIâd love to tell you who I am and what is my intention but I donât think you are prepared enough to hear them.â
âDonât act like a smart ass. I donât have patience,â Zinnia threatened him.
The edge of her sword rubbed against his neck, causing blood to spill from the wound.
âZinnia, enough,â Ovior ordered. âPut away your sword. You donât want to commit treason.â
Zinnia withdrew her sword. âWhat do you mean by treason?â
She looked at Dave Morton and asked, âAre you part of the Royal Family?â
âWhat Royal Family?â Veronica was confused. She stared at Dave Morton in puzzle.
âIt is my regret that my disguise wonât work anymore.â Dave Morton stood up and courteously bowed to the ladies. âPrince Louis, at your service.â
âPrince Louis? You mean THE Prince?â Veronica was astonished.
It was hard to believe that he was the Crown Prince. She never expected it.
She had seen the Crown Prince only once in the Queen Isabellaâs birthday banquet but Dave Morton looked nothing like that dazzling Crown Prince.
âYou are King Williamâs second son, the Crown Prince!â she exclaimed in surprise.
âYou are correct.â Dave Morton aka Prince Louis smiled at her. âThe more I see you, the more amazed I am. Master Arthur has indeed picked up an intelligent woman.â
âThatâs enough, Prince Louis,â Zinnia coldly cut him off. âYou can be the Crow Prince but that doesnât give us an excuse to eavesdrop on our conversation. State your reason.â
Prince Louis shrugged. âI donât know what you are talking aboutâ¦â
Before he could finish his sentence, Zinnia grabbed him by his neck and raised him off the ground.
âLook pal, I understand that you think you are the Crown Prince and so you will get away from anything but I will remind you how your stepbrother died in Arthurâs hand. I might accidentally break your neck and you have to kiss your life goodbye.â
Zinniaâs words were chilling and threatening.
Veronica gulped. She was worried that Zinnia might truly kill Prince Louis.
âZinnia, calm down. You donât want to commit treason,â she gently told her.
âOh no, Iâd love to commit treason.â Zinnia smirked devilishly. âSweetheart, do you know I love torturing men before I end their lives?â
Prince Louis sensed his mouth was dry. He licked his lips and said, âLady Zinnia, I can explainâ¦â
âNow we are talking,â Zinnia said. âLetâs hear your reason. Just remember if I donât like your explanation, Iâll separate your head from your neck.â
