Chapter 29
Struggle in Ancient Times
Few days after the banquet, Liao Tingyu lived his life like an old man; went to the bed early and woke up late every day. When the sun was good and he had free time, he would go out fishing. Right now, there was nothing to do in the farm. What could he do, his family already got it done he could only eat a good meal.
Sometimes, he saw Mother Deng and others did things and he offered to help. Even so, Mother Deng just let him played around and praised him to the sky. His life was really good.
It was a pity, after peaceful days, just like in modern world. A matter every parent urged their children, marriage. Liao Tingyu usually wrote novel at home to cultivate his moods, but in the end, invitations was coming one by one. He was writing in his room when he heard strange voices from outside talked with his parents. Well, he was struggling with the novel so he didnât go out to find out.
The old couple in the main room laughed when they heard people praising their son and took the invitation that was handed to them. Liao Ming didnât object at all, he just glanced at the name on the invitation curiously.
Mother Deng opened another brand-new world since Liao Tingyu admitted, this was the first time she received invitation. People in the village usually dreamed to marry someone in the town, after all their life must be easier, but the chance was slim. His son was actually invited by people from the town, not only one but there was a lot of them. Well, she was really capable to raise amazing son.
.
After they sent the servants away, Mother Deng took the stack of invitation cards and touched them carefully, âIn my life, I have never thought I would receive invitations from the town. Look, old man, this card written really well. The paper is beautiful, it must cost money to buy. But they send it here, look, this Qian family is really good.â
âDonât touch it, letâs see what is written inside?â Liao Ming looked at Mother Dengâs salty hands and couldnât stand it anymore.
Mother Deng glared at him, âIf I could read it, would I be like this? You, come here and read it. Donât just sit by there.â
âHow could I read? You keep holding onto it and never let go.â Liao Ming snatched the invitations with a straight face.
Mother Deng quickly stood up and looked over his head, âQuick, what is written?â
Liao Ming saw the content inside some of them and he felt his son was really good. Not only it was about meeting to celebrate, there was someone who wanted to introduced their daughter and ger.
Sure enough, his youngest marriage was here and he was worried over nothing. Even though, most children already married on their sixteen years old but his son was delayed till twenty years old.
Liao Ming shook his head and told Mother Deng, âThere are those who want to be our sonâs disciple. Some also want to be friends with our son, and there is the talk about marriage.â
âThatâs true, our youngest still alone.â Mother Deng nodded her head, âHusband, give me the invitation about marriage, I will show it to my son.â
.
Finally, Liao Tingyu was able to get the conception of his novel. He moved a bit on his seat to shook off his stiff neck and arms,
âIâm like this in short time. My body is getting old too fast, my youth already gone.â Liao Tingyu looked at the blue print plan on his desk and said sadly.
He went out of his room to get something to eat. Mother Deng came to him happily with a smile on her face, âMother received invitations today, all of them are for you. Let me tell you, there are people who wanted to talk about marriage. You have been in the town so long; you must see something. Tell me if you know something.â
âWhat do I know? I only read books and never cares about this kind of things.â Liao Tingyu pretended to be ignorant.
âIs that so?â Mother Deng was suspicious but didnât trouble him, âWell, mother has nothing to do these days. I will go to the town and have a look. After all, marriage is a big deal, we canât be careless.â
Liao Tingyu didnât want to get married so early and he already had sweetheart, âMother, I donât think itâs urgent. Look at your son, I didnât even own a house or money. Wouldnât my wife suffer if I married now?â
âDonât worry about it. Even if you get married now, father will build you a house with blue bricks. As for money, those people are rich, they donât need your money.â Liao Ming answered him.@@novelbin@@
âBut those people are raised in the town and used to live a good life. It wouldnât be good to live in our village, it is better to settle in the town.â Liao Tingyu racked his brain.
âFather disagrees. As long as the husband treat them right, there was nothing wrong with living here.â Liao Ming replied, âAnyway, are you stupid from reading too much? Are you afraid of getting married?â Liao Ming looked at him suspiciously.
Liao Tingyu shook his head quickly, if he said he didnât want to get married. He would be lectured by the whole clan.
âItâs nothing. Then let me see the invitations.â Liao Tingyu took his bowl, the invitations in mother Dengâs hand and ran back to his room.
âHusband, what was his thought? We talked about his future but he pushed back and forth.â Mother Deng looked sadly at her sonâs back.
Liao Ming felt something strange, âYou can ask him later, he probably wonât come out now.â
âOkay.â Mother Deng replied while looking at her husband dissatisfiedly which made Liao Ming wondered if he did something wrong.
âWhatâs wrong? Isnât true?â
âItâs all the good things you did. If you didnât delay his marriage, there wouldnât be this problem. I would have embraced a grandson from my youngest son.â
Liao Ming scratched his head, âWell, if his son isnât a scholar, how could people from the town interested in him?â
âWhat nonsense. When our son was sixteen, there was matchmaker from the town asking his marriage.â Mother Deng was very angry with her husband.
At the beginning, Liao Ming refused the marriage for both sons. He insisted their children shouldnât get married until certain age. Liao Shi on his nineteen and Liao Tingyu on his twenty. Mother Deng thought her husband just full of bullshit, why is her life so hard?
Liao Ming felt helpless, after all he only followed what the fortune teller told him. isnât everything good now? His eldest son had fixed job and the youngest was a scholar. The important was their brotherhood also strong!
