(Another Her - Mariana)

“Hello, stranger! It has been a while!” Lana tells me.

“Lana! It’s nice to see you! Yeah, you’re right it has been a while.” I reply. I’m really happy to see her.

“38 days to be exact.”

“Okay... How have you been? Did you go on your date with Ezra finally?”

“Yes like a month ago.” She replies looking happy!

“How was it?”

She shakes her head: ” Great and we had a fight at the end of the evening... But you would have known if you didn’t disappear!” She replies, crossing her arms in front of her.

I look around and everything looks blurry around us.

“Where are we?” I ask.

“In your dream. In our dream. Even if you’re difficult to reach out to. We don’t sleep at the same time so that means we’re not on the same continent anymore.” She replies.

“Is it a witch thing to spy on other dreams?”

“No. I felt you’re leaving for good so I’ve connected our souls together. If you’re in danger I will feel it.”

“What?! Why?”

“Because you saved my life! And also because I like to think we were becoming friends before you left.”

“Still you should have asked me!” I protest.

“Pfff! You would have said no!”

She is annoying! And to say I was missing her!

“How are you? Are you good where you’re?” She asks.

“So you don’t know where I am?”

“No. I mean I could but I don’t want to know because everybody is bugging me at the pack to find you so it’s better if I don’t know.” She replies.

“I’m your friend and I know something is wrong. As much as I want to help you, I can’t if you don’t want to. I wished you trusted me enough to share with me your problems but I won’t push you to tell me. I just want you to be better and happy if possible.” She adds.

“Happy.... I don’t think I will ever be. I lost too much.” I comment.

“You’re speaking about Ash?”

I shrug.

“There is something else...”

“I thought you said you will not push me to tell you!” I say.

“You’re right. Sorry. Are you better at least?”

“I’m working on that. But sometimes I feel so alone.”

“Then make friends. You are nobody’s sister where you are.”

“I have friends but it’s not that.”

“Okay... One day if you want to speak about it, I’m here.”

“Thanks!” I smile.

“I should go. I will let everybody know you’re doing well and you miss them. By the way, Logan and your parents told me to tell you they love you and they are proud of you whatever happens.”

I nod, not trusting my voice. That makes me want to cry.

“Will I see you again here?” I ask.

“Do you want to?” She says with hope.

“Sure! Why not?” I reply trying to be nonchalant.

“Once a month?” She proposes.

“Once a week?” I reply.

“Cool!” She says nodding her head and smiling.

“See you next week!” She adds before disappearing.

I woke up right after that dream. Thinking about Lana makes me smile. Maybe next time, I will have the force to tell her why I left. How my wolf died because of the rejection and the poisoned arrow who hurt me weeks ago. I couldn’t stay knowing I was not part of this world anymore. What my family would have thought? I had to accept Asher’s rejection to not ashamed him more than I already did. At least, I did something right for once in my life.

It’s funny how the world can be small... I live in a big city far from the woods and still who I met here? Werewolves! Gemma is studying here with me in a “human university” and she’s the future Luna of her pack so Dominic the future Alpha is not fond of the idea of leaving her alone in this big city full of danger and hormonal young males...

In the beginning, I wanted to stay away from them as I wanted to move on and to let that world behind me. But we had a project to do together with Gemma and we clicked! After a week, I told her I knew what she was, and even if she got scared that I would reveal her secret we became friends.

Esteban, the future Gamma had become a good friend. I helped him with his mate. Like me, she was reluctant at the idea to be mated to the Gamma and to pass after her Luna. She listened to my story and she didn’t make the same mistake I did. I told them that I was mated to a Gamma. This is how I knew about werewolves but I let aside the part that I used to be one of them. Lana knows about my wolf and we are still speaking once a week in my dream. I’m doing better, it’s still difficult and nothing will ever be able to fill that emptiness my wolf and Asher left but I’m doing okay.

I didn’t meet any men who have picked my interest. Lots of guys asked me out but they’re not Asher. I know I have lost him forever but I’m not ready to move on with this part of my life and honestly, I don’t think I will ever be able to... But that’s okay.

We’re out for a party and this was a bad idea. Rogues invited themselves to the party and they are too many 19 against 5 and half of us. I’m the half as I’m not a werewolf anymore I don’t count for one but I know how to fight. Hopefully, I’m enough in danger for Lana to feel it. I cross my fingers. The rogues threaten to kill humans if we don’t follow them in a dark alley.

Suddenly, Lana, Ezra, and Angelina appear in front of us. Where is my brother? Yes! It worked. I need to thank her later. Lana creates a shield around us while Angelina turns into her Lycan and kills all the rogues in a few seconds.

“Thank you!” Dominic tells them.

“You’re welcome! I’m Lana, this Ezra, and that Angelina.” Lana replies.

" I’m Dominic, this is my mate Gemma, My future Gamma Esteban and his mate Joan. Who are you? And what a witch, an Alpha, and a Lycan are doing together.”

“Lana is my mate and Angelina is mated to my Beta. As for Mariana, she is a member of my pack. Or was, as I don’t feel our pack link anymore...” Erza says looking at me, disappointed.

He believes I left the pack willingly. Lana didn’t tell them. I knew I could trust her.

“What?!” Gemma says.

“She can’t be part of your pack. She doesn’t have a wolf anymore.” Angelina comments.

“What?! Did you know?” Erza asks Lana who just shrugs.

“This is big! You told me she was safe. Without a wolf, she needs protection 24/7. Her family needs to know!” He adds.

“I’m safe and I will not go back with you!” I tell him.

“You will not force her. We can offer protection.” Gemma says.

“Erza, I need to heal alone and to find who I am and what I want to do with my life now that I’m a human. Please, I will call Logan and my parents tomorrow but I will not come back. I can’t face them now.”

He groans: ” You know I love you like a sister. I just want you to be happy... Promise me to be careful and to give us some news.”

“Promise!” I reply hugging him.

Lana walks toward me and hugs me too.

“It’s good to see you in real.” I tell her.

“I know. Sorry, they refused to let me go alone and as I was afraid you could die, I didn’t fight them.”

“That’s okay! Thank you for coming. Did he ask you to be his girlfriend?”

“Pff! You wish!!! This idiot!” She replies smiling. She looks so happy.

“What are you talking about? Who asked you to be his girlfriend?” Ezra asks, growling.

“It’s more who didn’t ask her, yet!” I tell him.

Angelina says:” We should go before someone realizes we’ve disappeared.”

Lana opens a portal. She hugs me and passes the portal with Ezra after we said our goodbyes.

Angelina looks at me: “You know he might still be pissed at you but he will come for you. Your absence is driving him crazy already. Us, Lycans don’t let our mates go, never.” She leaves before I can say anything.
