“Alex, didn’t we agree on this?”

Alex lifted his little face, his eyes red rimmed as he stared at his mother, “But I don’t like Emmett being my dad, I prefer Mr. Milburn“

‘Alex, there are many things Mom has to do! I’m sorry, Mom didn’t protect you well”

Clara hugged Alex, her tears falling uncontrollably.

After waiting for a while, the doorbell finally rang Emmett got up and opened the door, and there stood Clara.

Because of the rain, Clara looked a little haggard, with her hair wet from the rain “Why didn’t you tell me it was raining?”

He was dealing with company matters and didn’t notice the weather outside.

“You seemed busy, Mr. Melendez, I didn’t want to disturb you; a little rain won’t hurt.”

“Come in, change your clothes.” With that, Emmett turned around and returned to his room to fetch a bathrobe for her.

Clara hesitated and quickly said, “No need, Mr. Melendez, I’m fine.”

“Do you want to catch a cold and then pass it on to me?”

Emmett shoved the bathrobe into her hands without further ado, “Go change; I’ll have someone dry your clothes; they’ll be ready soon.”

Holding the bathrobe, Clara hesitated, unsure of what to do.

“Do you want to piss me off?”

Only then did Clara quickly head to the bathroom with the bathrobe.

Emmett walked to the sofa, closed the documents he was reading, and then shut down his computer.

Before long, Clara emerged from the bathroom.

She looked beautiful.

Emmett cleared his throat and patted the spot next to him, “Come here!”

Clara hesitated before saying. “Mr. Melendez, did you need something?”

“I’ve met the child’s biological mother”

Clara paused, managing an “Oh.”

“And then?” Emmett raised an eyebrow.

“What am I supposed to say? It’s normal for you to meet the mother of your child, isn’t it?”

Seeing him ask like this, Clara felt a bit relieved It seemed Emmett didn’t suspect anything.

But she owed Elio another favour.

“I won’t have any relationship with her, even if she’s my child’s mother.” Emmett stated thoughtfully, “The decision to let her have the child wasn’t what I wanted, it was just my parents forcing me, I thought I wouldn’t marry anyone in this life, so I agreed.”

“But I didn’t think I would meet you” Emmett lifted his head, looking into her eyes, “Clara, I’m serious.”

Clara was taken aback, “But I don’t have any merits, and I’ve had a child”
