“Ricardo called you?!” Emmett cut off Clara before she could finish, his voice noticeably louder.

This left Clara a bit flustered, forgetting what she was about to say.

“What did he say to you?”

Feeling Emmett’s apparent tension, Clara bit her lip gently, “He said…about work, that he’d handle it for me so I wouldn’t have to worry…”

“That’s it?”

Clara nodded, “Yes! What else should he have said?”

“… Nothing, I just thought he wanted to dump all the work on you” Emmett tried to laugh it off nonchalantly, turning his gaze elsewhere, There were some issues with a partnering company this morning, but I sorted them out after I went.”

Clara responded, “Don’t blame Ricardo. I want to work too! I don’t want to lose my income after marrying you! And look, I have nothing else to do, but let Ricardo bear the workload of both of us, it doesn’t sit well with me.”

‘I’m sorry, I thought she’d never return to the country in her life, so I didn’t inform you beforehand, nor did I sign any agreements with her! Now I have no control over her actions, so I’m worried….
