“No prob, no need to apologize.. other than Matt, you’re the closest and most capable right–hand man Emmett has.”

Clara was caught off guard, “Emmett helped Matt pay off his debts too?”

“No, rumor has it that Matt was caught by the mob because he betrayed his own team, and was about to kick the bucket when Mr. Melendez stepped in and saved him. Ricardo said, his eyes full of admiration, “Mr. Melendez is so awesome, if I was a woman, I’d totally marry him!”

After Ricardo finished speaking, he chuckled a little, “Of course, I won’t have a chance to be your rival in this life!”

Clara chatted with him about some company matters before heading back to her office.

Just as she sat down, her phone started ringing.

She answered the call, “Hello, this is Clara”

“It’s me!” A soft voice came through, I’m Leah, you remember me, right?”

Clara was stunned, “Of course, I remember you! What can I do for you?”

Clara didn’t think too much about it, she was just surprised.

1..” Leah hesitated for a moment, seemingly having difficulty speaking, “I have a favor to ask! Could you help me out?”

“Go ahead.”

“This could actually benefit you as well. I’m looking for a partner! I just got back to the country and there is an issue with our family business here. We urgently need to sell a batch of lumber! I know you work for the Melendez Group, and I’ve done some research, the Melendez Group is currently in need of lumber! Ms. Calloway, could you help me out and be a go–between?*

Clara was indeed aware that the company was currently looking for reliable sources of lumber, she even had some suggestions for selection in the documents she organized this morning.

“This is the responsibility of the procurement department, I might not be able to help much! But I can mention it to Emmett!” Clara paused, her voice carrying a hint of hesitation, “But…”

“I understand!” Leah immediately responded, “You can rest assured, I won’t be dealing with the Melendez Group under my own name! You also don’t need to tell Emmett that this is to help me! In fact, I was worried about this before, afraid that if Emmett saw me, it would spark his investigation into that matter again!
