“But you did!” Clara stepped back, “Actually, you should have dug up the dirt about me and Taylor a long time ago, right? Even though the Atwood family. tried to erase our past, you would still have ways to find out! That’s why you showed me this project proposal, to see my reaction!”

Emmett didn’t expect her to be so smart. He was lost for words.

Spit it out, I’m listening” Clara put down the files in her hand, looked at Emmett squarely for the first time, her gaze unflinchingly firm, “Do you want me to tip off Taylor, warn him not to cooperate with you, then suddenly Taylor remembers our past, remembers me, and eventually ends up with me?”

Clearly, he was not thrilled with this scenario.

Seeing his silence, Clara continued, “Since you’re not satisfied with this outcome, what else do you want to see? Should I pretend I never saw this document? Or promise you I won’t help Taylor, and won’t have any contact with him? Is that what you want?”

“Clara, calm down.”

“How can I calm down? Emmett, if you were constantly tested, could you stay calm?” Clara stepped back, “We share a bed, but you have never trusted me!”

Emmett clenched his fists and stood up. “Do you think I don’t want to trust you? But your past with Taylor…”

“I’ve told you, that’s all in the past!”

“But you two have a child!” Emmett’s fist slammed hard on the desk.

He had been patient enough! He had never been so anxious! Clara thought he didn’t trust her, but the root of the problem…was that he didn’t trust himself!

He didn’t believe that his feelings for Clara could outweigh her past with Taylor!

If Taylor regains his memory in the future, would Clara rush back to him?

“A child?” Clara was shocked by his words, “What are you talking about?”

“Your son, he’s Taylor’s, right?” Emmett turned his face away, I’ve checked. There were no other men in your life! Even though the Atwoods tried to make Taylor completely forget you and covered up your past, your past…everything except the part where you got pregnant and had a child, is still intact!”

“You’ve been careful not to let me see your child, is it because he looks a lot like Taylor?”

Clara opened her mouth to respond, but found that nothing she could say would be appropriate!
