Chapter 197
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
Suddenly, Badman was slapped across the face.
He frowned, meeting Claraâs eyes.
âYouâve got the face to say that? If it wasnât for your gambling habits, losing all our money, almost getting yourself killed, would I be doing what Iâm doing? Where do you think the money Iâve made has gone, huh?â
âEnough! Stop bringing up the past! That money is long gone. Iâm still alive, arenât I? As long as Iâm breathing, I need more money!â Badman Calloway was done hearing it, caring little about his daughterâs tears. Plus, you should be thanking me! If it wasnât for you giving birth to a rich manâs child, would you ever reach the upper class?? Would you have a comfortable life like this?!â
Clara clenched her fists. This is a comfortable life?!â
Living in constant fear, worrying about Emmett finding out the truth, not even daring to acknowledge her own son. Was this her idea of a comfortable life?
âYou donât consider this comfortable? At least youâre not starving! My pockets are down to a hundred bucks. After todayâs meal, Iâll be going hungry tomorrow!â
â1. I can give you ten grand,â Clara didnât want to argue anymore.
Regardless of the outcome, he wouldnât change.
Expecting a gambler to turn over a new leaf was pretty much a pipe dream..
Clara had given up on that hope.
âTen grand? Do I look like a beggar to you? Thatâs not even enough for my trip abroad!â
www âThatâs enough for you to live on! I donât have any more!â She might be earning a decent wage at the Melendez Group, but that money was owed to Emmett Even if they were married, things needed to be clear!
He helped her pay off her debts once, it was only right she paid him back.
Then go get it! I donât care either way.â Badman sank into the couch, âYou figure it out! But I need three million in three days! My flightâs in two days, off to Las Vegas! My buddies all say, Iâm bound to win big there! If I win back my losses, Iâll pay you back!â
Clara was speechless.
âYou want this money to gamble?â
âThatâs my only shot at turning things around! How could I pass that up?â Badman Calloway stated matterâofâfactly, âAnd let me tell you, you better not get in my way! Or Iâll hold a grudge against you for life. If Iâm not doing well, I wonât let you live easy.â
Just as Clara was about to retort, there came a knock at the door.
âClara, itâs me.â
Emmett?!
Why did he have to show up right now?
Clara hastily replied, âIâm a bit tied up right now, canât really open the door! Iâll come find you later!â
But Badman Calloway quickly picked up on Claraâs panic, he walked over and swung the door open, revealing Emmett.
âSo youâre my daughterâs sugar daddy?â
Emmett took one look at Badman Calloway, then at Claraâs reaction, and everything clicked.
He stepped inside and shut the door behind him.
âYou must be Claraâs fatherâ
This was not a question.
Without hesitation, Badman Calloway nodded, âOf course.â
âYouâre here for money, I take it.â Emmett glanced at Clara.
However, Clara quickly grabbed his hand, pushing him back out the door, âThis is my problem, donât worry about it! Mr. Melendez, you go ahead with your business!
