Chapter 227
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
The anxious voice of a mother echoed in the air.
âTaylor, Taylor! Hurry, hurry up and get the doctor from the Milburn family!â
After the doctor finished his examination, he gave Taylor a sedative, and he finally fell asleep peacefully.
Teresa immediately pulled the doctor aside and whispered, âHas my son contacted you recently?â
The doctor shook his head as he tidied up his medical kit. âNo! I donât usually stay at the Atwood familyâs residence, and I donât remember have changed contact information with him. How could he find me?â
But why would my son suddenly bring up the car accident from years ago and his amnesia?â
The doctor was taken aback, âReally? Did he say who told him?â
âWell, he didnât.â
4 âBesides the few who were involved in the operation, no one else would know!â After pondering for a moment, the doctor said, âMaybe itâs just your son guessing? Maybe he brought it up to test you?â
Teresa sighed, âI wish that were the case! But⦠Iâm just worried something will go wrong! If Taylor learns the truth, heâll hate me!â
âBut youâre doing this for his own good, arenât you?â The doctor chuckled, trying to reassure her.
âYouâre just feeling guilty! If he asks you anything, you need to act normal. If he senses something is off, and goes abroad to investigate, or even spends a lot of money to dig up information⦠I can only guarantee that I wonât tell anyone, no matter how much money they offer. As lor the others, I have no control over them!â
âBut theyâre all your people from the Milburn family, canât you instruct them?â
The doctor waved his hand and sat down, âYou donât understand! Our relationships within the Milburn family had already deteriorated while the old man was alive. After his death, things only got worse. We donât stay in touch anymore, how could I speak for you?â
âBut I will contact those few who knew the truth back then! And then Iâll give you their contact information so you can call them.â
Teresa frowned, clearly displeased.
âSo I paid them hush money back then, and now they want to squeeze more out of me?â
âWhoa, Mrs. Teresa! Youâre wronging me with that! Have I asked you for money? I just said I canât vouch for them, not that Iâll tell your son! Like I said earlier, I absolutely wonât say a word.â
Teresa waved her hand irritably, âFine, fine! I can handle this myself. You just need to keep your mouth shut, and I donât need you to interfere!*
âOkay.â The doctor picked up his medical kit, âThen Iâll be going. If you need anything, just let me know,â
âOkayâ Teresa stood up to see him out, then quickly returned to the room.
Taylor was still sleeping, as quiet as a baby. Since he was a child, Taylor had always been a good boy, rarely going against his parentsâ wishes. The only time was because of Clara.
Taylorâs mother held his hand tightly and sighed.
âSon, you will eventually understand your motherâs hardships. Youâre my treasure, I would never do anything to hurt you. Everything Iâve done is to make your life better, to not let unnecessary people drag you down. Itâs common knowledge that Claraâs father is a compulsive gambler. If you marry her, our family will be dragged into it too!â
