Emmett cracked a slight smile, “Maybe this is just karma biting me in the butt.”

He had so many women trying to get his attention in the past, but he never paid them any mind! Now the tables have turned, and he’s the one chasing after Clara.

But before Clara could respond, she saw Ricardo running over from the distance.

“Looks like Ricardo is on the hunt for you! You go on, I’ll stay put here.”

Emmett glanced at Ricardo, who was waving at him.

“Just stay put, don’t wander off. It’s not safe around here!”

“Alright, alright! I get it! Can I at least look around a bit?”

“Sure,” Hearing her reply, Emmett finally walked towards Ricardo, “You seem a bit on the edge, anything wrong?”

Ricardo was not one to rush around normally.

“Taylor’s here! He was asking to see you at the office! When they told him you were out, he headed to the construction site! Should I ask him to wait, or…”

Emmett glanced at the car parked at the entrance to the construction site, biting his lower lip slightly, “Do you know what he wants?”

“Not a clue,” Ricardo shook his head, “But it’s definitely not work-related. He didn’t bring his secretary, nor any documents! If it was about work, he could’ve just talked to the VP, why would he insist on seeing you?”

Emmett furrowed his brows, silent for a moment, then said, “Let him wait for half an hour. I want to show Clara around the site! Once we’re done, you take Clara back and I’ll meet with him.”

“Got it! I’ll go tell him now.”

Emmett stood still for a few seconds, then turned to walk towards Clara.

“What happened?” Clara looked up and asked.

“It’s nothing.” Emmett didn’t want her to get involved with anything related to Taylor, “Once we’re done here, you go back with Ricardo. I have some business to attend to, which is to meet someone.”

“Alright! You go do your thing; you really don’t have to accompany me! You’ve got a ton of stuff to do at the office, the fact that you, the CEO, personally accompanied me to the construction site is already drawing quite some attention and I’d rather not be in the spotlight.” “In other people’s eyes, you’re my secretary. Who’s to say whether I’m accompanying you or you’re accompanying me?”

Clara rolled her eyes, knowing she couldn’t convince Emmett.

They walked around the construction site for a bit, checking out the actual construction work and the foundation.

“You head back first; we can come back when we’re free.”

“Okay!” Clara nodded, “I’ll head back with Ricardo then.”

Emmett watched Clara and Ricardo leave, then walked towards the car at the entrance.

Seeing him, Taylor stepped out of the car.

He was dressed in a grey and white uniform, his face gaunt, giving off a frail vibe.

“Hello, Mr. Meléndez.”

Emmett gave a slight smile, “You’re not just here to say hi, are you? Spit it out.”

“Mr. Melendez sure is wary of me!” Taylor chuckled, “Given the current situation, AW Company is no longer a competitor to the Melendez Group. I thought Mr. Melendez would let his guard down by now.”
