Clara was taken aback before realizing something was off.

She quickly let go of Taylor’s hand and briskly walked towards Emmett, “Hey, what’s with the punching!

Taylor just recovered from a car accident, what you did…that’s not cool, man!”

“So, it’s my bad, huh?” Emmett looked at Clara, his eyes deep and complicated.

Clara knew he was pis sed, but…she couldn’t just ignore the injured Taylor! If it wasn’t for Ricardo accidentally spilling the beans, she wouldn’t even know that Emmett was meeting Taylor!

“I didn’t say it was your fault!”

“Your words earlier seemed to suggest otherwise.”

“No that’s not what I meant,” Clara quickly clarified, “I don’t regard Taylor as someone special! I just think he’s vulnerable right now, like the elderly and children! Do you get what I mean?”

Hearing this, Taylor’s eyebrows furrowed, “Clara, you don’t need to be afraid of him! He can’t hurt me! I know you care about me; you don’t have to fear him!”

“What are you talking about?” Clara looked at him, “Where’d you get the idea that I care about you?

We’ve already cleared the air!”

“Clara, what happened was because of my mom, not me!” Taylor was desperate to explain. He tried to reach for Clara’s hand, but before he could touch her, Emmett pushed him away.

“I’m not dead yet, Clara is my wife now.”

Wife… The word made Taylor feel dizzy.

“You guys, you got married?”

“Yes,” Clara nodded, walking over to Emmett and taking his hand, “So stop bothering me! I’ve said it before, let bygones be bygones. Whether it was your mom or you who arranged it, it’s in the past. We can’t turn back time! Taylor, take care.”

With that, she started to leave with Emmett.

Taylor tried to catch up, but Emmett suddenly turned and stared at him-

“I’m running out of patience.”

Before he could react, Emmett and Clara had already driven away.

Behind them, Taylor closed his eyes tightly, clenching his fists. His phone rang in his pocket.

Taylor pulled it out and answered.

“But your plan will hurt Clara!”

“Ah, you hopeless romantic! How can you have Clara if they don’t break up? Can you really stomach her being with both of you?!”

Taylor didn’t speak.

“Since you can’t handle that, Clara has to leave Emmett! If you think that will hurt her, I can’t help you!

Haven’t you tried to get Clara to leave Emmett of her own accord?” Leah laughed, “Well, that didn’t work.”

Taylor clenched his lips, saying, “Give me more time! From the way Clara looked at me just now, I can tell she still has feelings for me! I will make her willingly come with me!”

“You’re a grown man, a company CEO, and yet you can say something so childish! If you were a woman, would you give up a catch like Emmett?”
