Taylor scowled and said, “Clara isn’t like that!”

“But hasn’t Clara made a choice between you and Emmett? Otherwise, she should be standing by your side now!”

“Snap out of it! Clara isn’t going to come running back to you! You hurt her so badly before; I’m a woman, so I know why she’s keeping her distance from you now! But I’m sure she still has you in her heart.”

Taylor thought of Clara’s eyes just now; he didn’t see much longing or love in them, and it seemed she was just determined to cut ties with him.
