Chapter 267
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
âYouâre not making any sense!â Leah exclaimed, âAll I want is a decent husband; why is that wrong?
Clara is standing in my way. Am I not allowed to do something about it? Youâre just mad because you have a soft spot for her, and now youâre blaming me!â Leah waved her hand dismissively and said, âFine, I wonât bother you anymore. Iâll find someone else to discuss the Emmett situation with. After all, youâre not the only man whoâs interested in Clara.â
With that, Leah made the decision to leave.
Ignoring his own physical state, Elio quickly stood up and grabbed Leah.
âWho are you planning to talk to? I wonât allow it!â
âSee, youâre blaming me again and not letting me work with others. Do I have to listen to you all the time?â Leah threw off his hand and said, âIf we werenât related, I wouldnât even bother seeing you!
There are plenty of people in this world who can work with me. Even if no one helps me, I can still get Clara away from Emmett. Donât flatter yourself.â
âI agreed to work with you; what else do you want?â
âBut thereâs been no progress at all!â Leah scoffed and said, âAlright, you think about what to do next.
Iâm off to have tea with Emmettâs mother.â
Elio frowned. âYouâve even got Emmettâs mother on your side?â
âOf course! Did you think I was stupid enough to rely solely on you?â Leah pointed a finger at his chest and said, âJust, so you know, I will succeed. No one can stop me, not Clara, not you.â
With that, she walked out of the hospital room with a triumphant smile.
Elio clenched his fist and punched the wall in frustration.
This had to be the worst moment of his life! And it was all his own fault! If he hadnât gotten Leah involved in the first place, he wouldnât be in this mess.
But he canât turn back time!
At the construction site, Clara was chatting amiably with the workers, her hard hat in place..
Ricarde stayed close by, not daring to wander too far.
âDo you think the complexity of this building is manageable?â
âThe more complex the design, the greater the challenge! Sure, it looks nice, but itâs not necessarily as safe as a simpler building.â
Clara nodded and jotted down their points: âHow do you think we could improve the safety of the building?â
âKeep it simple!â replied a worker, chuckling and munching on his lunch.
Clara felt comforted by their down-to-earth attitudes.
She didnât want to be stuck in the office doing theoretical work all the time. By interacting with the workers on the field, she felt she could learn more.
Despite the occasional misguided opinion, as the workers might not have all the facts, there were still many valuable insights to be gained.
After a series of questions, Clara walked over to Ricardo with her notebook.
âThis construction is progressing so fast. Could there be any quality issues?â
âAbsolutely not; you can trust us! We use top-notch equipment and workforce, so the speed is totally normal.â
Clara nodded and asked, âBy the way, howâs the batch of wood my friend provided? Have we started using it?â
