He knew Leah wasn’t kidding around, but if he really did it, Clara would never forgive him in her lifetime.

But if he didn’t do it, someone else would….

He knew Leah wouldn’t give up easily; she had to achieve her goal.

Elio stood there, caught between a rock and a hard place.

After a while, Elio gathered up the courage to send Clara a message.

[Hey, I might be leaving the country, can we meet one last time?]

He waited for a while, but there was no reply. Elio felt a bit down, hung his head, and left the office.

Clara was in the office sorting out documents. Her phone buzzed a few times, but she was too busy to check it.

Before she could finish sorting the documents, Ricardo walked in, “Can we postpone the afternoon meeting? Mr. Melendez looks really wiped out. Let’s give him a break.”

Clara quickly glanced at the schedule, “We’ve already postponed two meetings for three days. If we postpone again, some managers from overseas won’t be able to make it back in time.”

‘Ricardo frowned, “But I’m worried Mr. Melendez can’t take it…

“I’ll print out all the meeting documents as soon as possible. And I will make sure they are super detailed. This way, Mr. Melendez doesn’t have to talk much and can rest during the meeting.”

“All right, you have a lot on your plate, juggling design work and secretarial duties.”

Clara took a deep breath, “Well, it’s just part of the job! Mr. Melendez is sacrificing his rest time, and my stuff is nothing in comparison.”

“You go ahead, and I’ll notify everyone about the meeting.”

After Ricardo left, Clara bit her lip and sneaked a white box out of her drawer.

She had bought it on her way back from meeting Leah.

She was worried that people would see her with it, so she put it in her bag and went to the restroom…

Just as she entered and hadn’t taken out the test strip, her phone rang. She glanced at it; it was Emmett.

For some reason, Clara’s heart jumped, and she almost dropped her phone.

“What’s up?”

“Your secretary just told me you’re preparing the documents for me yourself? No need. I’m not tired.

The design department has a lot going on today, and it’s mentally draining. You should take a break.”

“I’m fine…”

From his tone, it seemed like he hadn’t found out anything. Clara was slightly relieved, “It’s okay.

Preparing documents won’t take up too much time, and if it can help you, it’s worth it.”

“Are you worrying about me?” Emmett chuckled, “Saving some energy for tonight…”

Clara’s cheeks turned red, “Where are you? Aren’t you afraid others will hear you?”

“I’m alone in my office. Are you coming over?”

“Absolutely not! I have a lot of work to do; I can’t chat with you right now, and you should stop chatting and get some work done!”

After ending the call, Clara glanced at her phone unintentionally.

She just noticed that Elio had called and sent a message.

Clara hesitated for a moment, looked at the test strip in her hand, and decided to take the test before replying to Elio.

Otherwise, if someone found this test strip, no matter how she explained, it would be useless.
