As she spoke, tears trickled down her cheeks and dropped onto her clothes, making her look very pitiful.

But that didn’t make a dent in Emmett’s heart. His heart would never waver for any woman other than Clara.

This time, Sophia didn’t hold Leah back. She got straight in the car and left.

Sophia’s annoyance deepened as she watched Leah disappear into the courtyard. “What on earth is wrong with you? Has Clara done something to you? Leah is the mother of your kid!”

“But she took our money! It was a transaction; I have no feelings for her.”

“But she is the child’s biological mother!”

“I know! So what?”

Sophia stomped her foot in frustration. “Only Leah will think about the future of the two kids; Clara will not give a damn!”

Emmett replied, “I think they get along fine.”

“You two don’t have kids together now, but if you did, what would happen to Aiden and Alex? I can’t always look after them as their mother.

“Their father is still alive! Even if Clara doesn’t care, do you think I’ll abandon them?”

Sophia sighed, “You’re always busy at the office; can you take care of the home?”

“it’s fine as long as Clara takes care of the home!”

Sophia retorted angrily, “Clara is good to the kids because she’s pretending! There’s no way that woman would genuinely care for them!”

“Do you think Leah would be good to the kids?”

“Of course! Aiden and Alex are her own flesh and blood!”

“But I don’t think so! I don’t want this to happen again; this is the last time! If Leah comes to our house again, I’ll make her leave the country and never let her come back.”

“That’s too harsh! Don’t Aiden and Alex have the right to see their biological mother?”

“But Aiden and Alex don’t want to see her. Do you know why I came back? It was Aiden who called me.”

Sophia was taken aback, “That’s because he hasn’t had contact with his biological mother; once he lives with her, Aiden and Alex will accept her. Blood is thicker than water!”

“None of that matters to me. I have things to do.” Emmett said as he turned to leave.

Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, half-turning to look at Sophia. “Because of this, I’ve decided to move out with Clara and the kids. You and Dad can enjoy your golden years here.”

Sophia was shocked, “No! Aiden and Alex can’t leave me!”

“But you always force them to see people they don’t want to see. I’m worried that you’ll affect their mental well-being.”

“You… you… I think you’re blinded by Clara! Whatever she does is right; whatever I do is wrong.”

Emmett closed his mouth gently, “You’re being too suspicious of Clara.”

“She had bad intentions when she married into the Melendez family. Who is biologically related to the kids here, her or me as the kids’ grandmother? I’m telling you, you don’t listen to me, you’ll regret it someday!”

if “I never regret anything! Mom. You’ll have to deal with the consequences of this. I don’t want our relationship to strain over this again, and I believe Dad wouldn’t approve of your actions either.”
