Chapter 316
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
âPlus, like Emmett said, I chose to do those things. I even got paid for it. So your family doesnât need to take the blame. As for the kids, Iâve let them go. I canât see them anymore.â
âWhat are you even talking about, kiddo?â Sophia blurted out, âWhere are you? Letâs meet up and talk.
Youâre not going to ignore what I have to say, are you?â
Leah hesitated before answering. âIf you come to see me and Emmett finds out, wonât that just cause more trouble between you two? It might affect your relationship as mother and son. Itâs not worth it for you to go through all that for me.
âWhat do you mean ânot worth itâ? Even if we fight, heâs still my flesh and blood. And that Clara is just some poor woman who suddenly became all high and mighty!â
A small smile played on Leahâs lips.
âIn my eyes, youâre a million times better than her! Youâre the real mother of the kids. Of course I want you to be with my son!â
âBut Iâ¦â
âNo buts! Donât do anything rash, okay? Letâs meet up and talk. Tell me where you are now, or else Iâm really going to get angry!â
Leah pretended to hesitate before telling Sophia her location.
Then she hung up the phone, put it down, and headed straight for the parking garage to get her car and head to the hotel.
On the way, Elio called. Leah didnât want to answer, but she was worried something mightâve happened on his end, so she picked up.
âWhatâs up? Iâm kinda busy right now, so cut to the chase.â
âWhat are you busy with?â Elio asked, âAre you planning to screw Clara over again?â
âIâm just following my plan. What can I do to her? Isnât she with you? Did you get the photos?â
âGot them. I had the reporter edit me out.â
Leah smirked, âThatâs your call. I donât care. All I want is for Emmett to get the wrong idea about Clara.
Nothing else matters.â
Elio tried to say something else, âButâ¦â
Leah didnât have time for this. She hurriedly said, âWeâll talk later. I canât talk right now.â
-She hung up and arrived at the hotel she was meeting Sophia at.
Leah was in such a hurry that she didnât even bother parking properly. She rushed into the hotel suite and quickly pulled out a suitcase, stuffing clothes in it to make her act more convincing.
âMr. Melendez, this man hasnât booked a room at our hotel, but heâs visited several times. Here are his check-in records.â
Emmett took the records and checked them. Each time, Elio seemed to be in a rush and didnât stay long.
But why would Elio be here if he hadnât booked a room?
Emmett handed the records back to the manager, âAre you sure this guy hasnât booked a room here?â
âYes, Iâm certain. Our hotel operates on a real-name system. Thereâs no chance we missed it.â
âThen whose room was he visiting? Can you provide me with their information?â
Although the manager seemed a bit uneasy, he didnât deny Emmettâs request. He just nodded nervously, âSure, just give me a moment. Our systemâs a bit complicated. We have professionals who handle this.â
âAlright, just make it quick. I donât have much time.â
The manager nodded and left.
Matt whispered to Emmett, âMr. Melendez, do you want me to do a little detective work?â
âNo need. I trust the manager will provide with the accurate records.â Emmett was confident the manager wouldnât dare hide anything from him.
He sat down on a couch in the hotel lobby, waiting for the results of the managerâs investigation.
Suddenly, Emmett saw a familiar figure.
