Taylor clenched his fists and asked, “So, you’ve chosen to team up with Elio? You’re handing Clara over to him?”

“Yeah, Elio can help me spread the news. I chose to trust him.”

“No way! I won’t let you do this! Where’s Clara? Tell me, and I’ll trade the whole Atwood family for her!”

“The Atwood family? Even if you threw yourself in with the whole Atwood family, I wouldn’t give a damn!”

“Then I’ll spill the beans to Emmett! I’ll make sure you crash and burn!”

Leah laughed as if she had heard the funniest joke, “If I remember correctly, Emmett just met you in the hotel, didn’t he?”

Taylor was taken aback, “So, this was all part of your plan?”

“Exactly. I just wanted you and Emmett to have a little chat. I want to let you know that Clara is in my hands. Did you get it? You can tell Emmett, but you’ll never get Clara!”

“What are you planning to do with Clara?”

“What I’ll do entirely depends on my mood. If I’m in a good mood, I’ll let her go. If I’m not… well, that’s a different story.” Leah said and sighed to herself.

Taylor frowned, “You…”

“Let’s be real. I’m just inches away from success. If anyone dares to-mess with my plan right now, I swear I’ll do whatever it takes!”

“Don’t hurt Clara. I won’t tell Emmett,” Taylor had no choice but to back down.

Leah chuckled, “Are you threatening me?”.

“No!” Taylor quickly softened his tone, “You’ve already released the news, so why keep Clara? Please, hand her over to me. I’ll take her away, and we’ll disappear without a trace, never to bother you again.”

“Do you take me for a fool?”

Taylor said seriously, “I swear! I won’t tell Emmett. You know how much more I love her than Emmett. I want her more. Once I have Clara, I won’t let her go back to Emmett!”

“You’re treating Clara like an object, like you can just whisk her away. Doesn’t she get a say?”

Tll keep her confined somewhere. I won’t let her disrupt your plan, okay? Just let Clara go. Tell me where she is, and I’ll pick her up.”

Leah bit her lip, “Why should I trust you?”

“I’ll stake the entire Atwood family on it! If I break my promise you can do whatever you want to the Atwood family!”

“I can’t afford any slip-ups in this. But don’t worry; I won’t need Clara for much longer. Once I marry Emmett, she’ll be free.”

Leah hung up the phone, and no matter how many times Taylor called, she didn’t pick up. Eventually, she turned off her phone.

Taylor was so furious that he smashed his phone to the ground.

He had to help Clara; he couldn’t let her get hurt.

When Elio returned to the villa where Clara was being held, the servant ran up to him before he could even enter the door.

“Elio, Ms. Calloway hasn’t eaten or drunk anything. You need to check on her. She can’t keep going like this! She’s leaning against the wall and looks like she’s about to pass out!”

Elio’s face turned serious, “Quick! Get a doctor, now!”

The servant nodded and hurried off, locking the door behind him as he left.
