Chapter 329
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
When Elio pushed the door open, he saw Clara in the corner.
She was curled up with her arms wrapped around her knees, not reacting even at the sound of the door opening.
He rushed over, âWhatâs up? Youâre giving me a heart attack.â
Only then did Clara lift her head slightly, âLet me out.â
Elio clenched his fists, looking at her and saying, âWhy canât you get what Iâm saying? You donât trust me. You think Iâll hurt you.â
Clara looked away, not wanting to meet his gaze, âWhether, I trust you or not, I donât want to talk about it anymore, but I need my freedom now! What youâre doing is illegal!â
âIâm just trying to protect you, Clara. Iâve done so much for you, but I canât put my parents in danger.â
âWhy canât you tell me the whole truth then? I just want to know why! Why do you say Iâm in danger?
Why involve your parents?â
âBecause someone is threatening me using my parents to make you leave Emmett. Elio blurted out in a rush.
Clara was stunned before her heart sank, âIs it Leah? Is she the one making you do this?â
Elio clenched his fists, gritting his teeth, âYes, itâs her!â
âI knew it, I knew it.â Clara suddenly felt a wave of darkness before her eyes, and her body started to fall backward.
Elio quickly caught her, anxiously shaking her arm, âWake up, wake up, get a doctor, quick!â
Soon, the servants brought in two doctors who hurriedly checked Clara, with Elio staying by her side.
Thankfully, she was okay!
The doctor put her on a drip, then turned to Elio, âShe canât keep starving herself like this. Her health is already not great. If she continues, it could cause permanent damage, which is irreversible.â
Elio nodded quickly, âUnderstood.â
The doctor looked at Elio and then at Clara, hesitating before saying, âIf you guys are fighting, itâs really not the best time. Your wife, or girlfriend, is in the first three months of her pregnancy. If anything goes wrong, itâs very easy for her to miscarry! Donât let yourself have any regrets!â
âYouâre saying that sheâs pregnant?â
Elio was frozen in place, feeling like heâd been struck by lightning at the news.
The doctor was taken aback by his reaction, âYou didnât know about the pregnancy? No wonder!â
Elio grabbed the doctorâs arm tightly, âAre you telling me this is true?â
âShe really is pregnant.â The doctor nodded, âItâs been about a month, but without precise tools, I canât be sure. You should take good care of her.â
Elio was stunned, standing there without moving.
âWhether or not this child is kept, it will have a significant impact on this woman. I just found out her health condition is terrible, and she has many scars on her body. Have you been abusing her?â
Elio immediately pulled up her clothes. Indeed there were many scars, but they all looked old, making him feel even worse.
âThese injuries werenât caused by me. Before, her father was in debt all over town, and the creditors would always come for her when they couldnât find him. Since she couldnât pay them back, they beat her.â
