Chapter 332
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
âI donât give a hoot about what others think of me; all I know is, I have to find Clara! Until I hear her say sheâs into someone else, thereâs no way in hell Iâm giving up!â
How on earth did she end up with such a stubborn son?
Everyone knew Leah was far superior to Clara in every way, and she was the mother of their two kids.
So why couldnât her own son see that?
Seeing that his mother was about to go on another rant, Emmett grabbed his keys off the table and made a beeline for the door.
Sophia tried to catch up with him but was a second too late. All she could do was shout after him, âListen here; thereâs no way Iâm letting Clara back into this house! Not unless Iâm six feet under. And I swear, I wonât let her anywhere near Aiden and Alex!â
Emmett acted like he hadnât heard a thing and drove off.
He was beat those past few days. Heâd planned to go home and feel Claraâs presence, but his mother wouldnât stop nagging him.
Suddenly, Emmett felt utterly homeless. Losing Clara had turned his world upside down.
Suddenly!
His cell phone on the passenger seat rang. It was his secretary. He picked it up right away.
âAny news?â
âNothing on Clara⦠But weâve made arrangements to bring Claraâs father back to the country, as you instructed. Should we postpone it?â
Emmett frowned. âBring him back.â
âAlright, I understand. Also, Mr. Melendez, you need to take care of yourself. Eat something. Where are you? I can have something sent over.â
âNo need, Iâm not hungry.â
||
âMr. Melendez, all this is my mistake.â
âNo use crying over spilt milk. The main task now is to find Clara!â He hung up and gripped the steering wheel tightly, unable to vent his frustration.
These days, every time he closed his eyes, Claraâs face appeared in his mind.
After the news had broken, he tried to stay cool and not let it affect him. But he was a man; wasnât he bound to waver?
Especially given Claraâs past relationship with Elio.
When Taylor Atwood asked if he trusted Clara, he admitted he was unsure.
Clara had once considered marrying Elio. Although it didnât happen, he couldnât be sure.
When Clara woke up, the first person she saw was Elio. It took her a few seconds to gather her thoughts.
Elio asked gently, âAwake? How do you feel? Want me to get the doctor?â
Clara frowned. âJust let me go. No need for a doctor.â
âYouâre that eager to leave? Even if I told you it could kill my parents?â
âI told you from the start that I donât need to leave. I just need to talk to Emmett, so he wonât worry. But your opposition makes this whole thing fishy. Now I have to leave, or I wonât eat or drink!â
âIs it worth it to protest me by risking your health?â
Clara sat up with effort. âWhat are you really up to? Canât you just tell me? In my heart, youâve always been my best friend and my strongest support. But now, I donât understand you at all!â
