Elio looked at Clara’s anxious face. His heart was a mix of emotions. He gave a bitter laugh, turned his face away and said, “You trust Emmett so much, but not me..”

“It’s not a matter of trust. Emmett and I are married, and we have Aiden and Alex! Now Leah wants to take my place; how can I agree to that?”

Seeing that Elio didn’t respond, Clara quickly added, “I’m not saying this because I blame you; you came up with this plot to deceive Emmett for my own good!”

“I understand, but now it’s impossible to hide this. If I disappear again, wouldn’t that really let Leah replace me? You said it yourself that Leah is cunning. She would never treat my children kindly!”

“Stay here and relax. We’ll deal with this after everything is over! If Emmett really is as you say, then Aiden and Alex will be fine. They’re his children too; he wouldn’t let anyone hurt them, right?”

Clara frowned, “No matter what i say, you won’t let me leave, will you?”

Elio lowered his head, “I’m sorry…”

Clara turned her face away, not wanting to look at him, “You’ve made up your mind, what else is there to say? Please leave. I need to rest!”

“Can you eat something?” Elio stood up and brought over some pastries and food. “At least eat a little.

The doctor said if you keep going without food, you may get sick. Your health is already bad as it is;

don’t ignore it just because you’re mad at me.
