Clara picked up the utensils and took a bite, “This is so good!”

“As long as you like it,” Nestor responded from the side, “Elio was thrilled to hear you started eating.

I’ve been with him for years; this is the first time I’ve seen him care about a girl this much. Clearly, Elio really likes you.”

Clara chuckled softly, looking down, “He’s indeed been very kind to me.”

She would admit that anytime.

However, this time, he had changed.

“Elio lived a privileged life since childhood. As an only child, his parents pretty much catered to his every whim. He never used to think about others; he was just what you’d imagine a rich young master to be.

But when I came back from overseas this time, I saw the way he looks at you and how he treats you. I knew he’d really fallen for you.”

Clara kept her head down, eating her food without responding.

Nestor didn’t mind; he even got up to fetch a glass of honey water, “Drink some after you finish eating.

It’s nutritious. I brought it back from abroad for Elio.”

“Thanks.” Clara took a sip and then glanced at him cautiously, asking tentatively, “Can I walk into the courtyard after I finish eating? I won’t leave this villa. You can come with me.”

Nestor hesitated, “I can’t decide that… I should call Elio. He said he’d be back once he’s done with his stuff. Maybe he can accompany you.”

Clara nodded, “Alright.”

She knew she couldn’t make them let their guard down immediately. She had to take it slow.

Even though she wanted to leave right away, she knew she couldn’t rush it, or they’d be alarmed!

Luckily, only Nestor was there now, which increased her chances of escape.

It was after school at the kindergarten.

The Melendez family’s driver picked up Aiden and Alex.

As soon as they entered the house, Aiden looked around, disappointed to find neither Mom nor Dad at home. Alex whispered beside him, “I haven’t seen Mom for days. Dad rarely comes home too. Did they divorce?”

Aiden quickly cut him off, “Impossible! Don’t talk nonsense!”

Alex pouted, his eyes welling up, “Aiden, I miss mom.”

Aiden furrowed his brows, hiding the sadness in his eyes. He didn’t want to show his longing in front of his little brother, fearing it would upset him more.

“Don’t cry. Mom and Dad will be back once they finish their work.”

“But didn’t you say Grandma kicked Mom out last time? Let’s go find Grandma and tell her we only want Mom, and we don’t want any other woman to be our mom!”

“I’ve already told Grandma, but she wouldn’t listen! It’s no use if you go tell her again!”

Alex pouted, “But I still want to try!”

“We’ve tried to speak up for Mom when she and Grandma weren’t getting along, but it only made Grandma treat Mom worse! So this time, let’s just wait for them at home.”

“But can just waiting bring them back?” Alex suddenly burst into tears.

Aiden frowned, “Mom and Dad will be back soon!”

“Aiden, can you take me to find Mom? I’ve never been away from her for so long. I want to hear her voice. I want her to hold me.”
