Chapter 339
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
Clara picked up the utensils and took a bite, âThis is so good!â
âAs long as you like it,â Nestor responded from the side, âElio was thrilled to hear you started eating.
Iâve been with him for years; this is the first time Iâve seen him care about a girl this much. Clearly, Elio really likes you.â
Clara chuckled softly, looking down, âHeâs indeed been very kind to me.â
She would admit that anytime.
However, this time, he had changed.
âElio lived a privileged life since childhood. As an only child, his parents pretty much catered to his every whim. He never used to think about others; he was just what youâd imagine a rich young master to be.
But when I came back from overseas this time, I saw the way he looks at you and how he treats you. I knew heâd really fallen for you.â
Clara kept her head down, eating her food without responding.
Nestor didnât mind; he even got up to fetch a glass of honey water, âDrink some after you finish eating.
Itâs nutritious. I brought it back from abroad for Elio.â
âThanks.â Clara took a sip and then glanced at him cautiously, asking tentatively, âCan I walk into the courtyard after I finish eating? I wonât leave this villa. You can come with me.â
Nestor hesitated, âI canât decide that⦠I should call Elio. He said heâd be back once heâs done with his stuff. Maybe he can accompany you.â
Clara nodded, âAlright.â
She knew she couldnât make them let their guard down immediately. She had to take it slow.
Even though she wanted to leave right away, she knew she couldnât rush it, or theyâd be alarmed!
Luckily, only Nestor was there now, which increased her chances of escape.
It was after school at the kindergarten.
The Melendez familyâs driver picked up Aiden and Alex.
As soon as they entered the house, Aiden looked around, disappointed to find neither Mom nor Dad at home. Alex whispered beside him, âI havenât seen Mom for days. Dad rarely comes home too. Did they divorce?â
Aiden quickly cut him off, âImpossible! Donât talk nonsense!â
Alex pouted, his eyes welling up, âAiden, I miss mom.â
Aiden furrowed his brows, hiding the sadness in his eyes. He didnât want to show his longing in front of his little brother, fearing it would upset him more.
âDonât cry. Mom and Dad will be back once they finish their work.â
âBut didnât you say Grandma kicked Mom out last time? Letâs go find Grandma and tell her we only want Mom, and we donât want any other woman to be our mom!â
âIâve already told Grandma, but she wouldnât listen! Itâs no use if you go tell her again!â
Alex pouted, âBut I still want to try!â
âWeâve tried to speak up for Mom when she and Grandma werenât getting along, but it only made Grandma treat Mom worse! So this time, letâs just wait for them at home.â
âBut can just waiting bring them back?â Alex suddenly burst into tears.
Aiden frowned, âMom and Dad will be back soon!â
âAiden, can you take me to find Mom? Iâve never been away from her for so long. I want to hear her voice. I want her to hold me.â
