Chapter 357
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
âMr. Melendez, weâve found what looks like Aiden and Alexâs footprints out in the suburban grassland.â
âWhich way did they go? Get after them!â
âThey were heading towards the city, but once we chased after them, their footprints disappeared by the road. Looks like they hopped into a car here because their shoe soles were muddy. If they continued to walk, they would have left some marks, but thereâs nothing by the road.â
âKeep looking! Check every single car donât miss a one! See if theyâve got two kids with them!â
âRight, Mr. Melendez.â
After hanging up, Patrick hurried over, âWhatâs up? Any news about Aiden and Alex?â
âWe found their footprints, and they were indeed coming to find me at the company Hearing this, Patrick glared at Sophia. It was rare for him to be this angry at his wife.
Emmett also said, âThis is all your fault! You insisted on having the kids meet their birth mother and wouldnât let them contact me. They might be lost now because they were trying to find me. Is this what you wanted? If anything happens to them, I swear, youâll pay!â
âYouâll make me pay? What can you do? Just kill me now. I donât want to live anyway! Sophia felt wronged. âNone of you have ever supported me! Not my son, not you! What did I do wrong? Iâm just looking out for the kids! Everybody knows stepmoms canât compare to real moms!â
Patrick took a deep breath, âYouâre just making a scene! Their family is very harmonious. Why do you always stir up trouble?â
âStir up trouble? Iâm their grandmother! Shouldnât I be considering their wellbeing? Now that thereâs trouble, youâre blaming me! If you had listened to me, none of this would have happened!â
âEnough!â Emmett suddenly shouted, âStop fighting!â
Startled, Sophia stepped back and fell silent.
Patrick opened his mouth to say something but finally just sighed.
âArguing now is pointless; we need to find the kids! If anything happens to them, all this bickering wonât be worth a damn!â
Emmett frowned, didnât say anything, and turned to leave.
Behind him, Sophia collapsed on the ground and started crying, âWhat did I do wrong? Why is fate so cruel to me? I just wanted the kids to grow up in a better environment.â
Patrick looked at his wife; he was about to scold her, but seeing her like this, he felt pity.
He bent down and helped his wife up, âYouâre not young anymore. Donât you understand the importance of family harmony? With Clara in our family, the atmosphere has always been harmonious.
Why do you insist on ruining it?â
Sophia looked up at her husband and frowned.
âBut sheâs not our family, after all; the kids arenât related to her. You think itâs fine now, but what about in the future? If our son has other children with her, they may be part of the Melendez family, but what about Aiden and Alex?â
