Chapter 371
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
âIâm just giving you props.â
Aiden stood up, peeking outside through a gap in the warehouse. There was an open field stretching out, with crops in the distance.
But he couldnât pinpoint their exact location.
Even if he knew, how should he send a message?
Soon, he saw people pacing outside. They were probably their captors.
Alex rushed to his side, asking, âAny luck? Can we make a run for it?â
âDoesnât look too promising,â Aiden said. âWeâre no match for them. Even if we did manage to escape, theyâd just catch us again. If they think weâre too much trouble, they might put us under sleeping pills.
Weâre not holding any aces here.â
âSo, weâre stuck here indefinitely?â
âNot necessarily.â
Suddenly, Aiden looked up. There was a big hole in the roof of the warehouse.
Alex followed his gaze. Surprised, he asked, âAiden, you donât expect me to climb up there and then we both make a break for it, do you?â
âNo way.â Aiden shook his head. âEven if we could climb up somehow, weâd just be sitting ducks for them.â
âWhatâs your plan, then?â
âWe could start a fire. Let the smoke billow out through the hole. People would notice somethingâs up with this warehouse. If my dadâs men are around, theyâd find us.â
Alex chuckled and quickly nodded. âThatâs a good one! But we donât have a lighter!â
Aiden tapped his forehead lightly, âHavenât you heard of rubbing sticks together to start a fire?â
Alex shook his head, âI havenât.â
âAny word on Aiden and Alex?â
As soon as Sophia got home, she grabbed her husbandâs hand and asked.
She had been searching all the places where Aiden and Alex could have gone to for a long time. But she found no clúes.
The kids were undoubtedly kidnapped, but there was no ransom demand.
Sophia was really worried. She feared their enemies might have kidnapped the kids for revenge.
Patrick shook his head. His face was serious and he was still in his work clothes. âNo words yet. I asked some friends to help out, but still no leads.â âWhat do we do? What if they have been..â
âNo way! Donât jump to conclusions.â Patrick cut her off. âNo one would harm kids for no reason. If it were our enemies, they would have contacted us. Most of the time, itâs about money. We need to stay calm. Weâll find them.â
Sophia nodded, sinking weakly into the couch. âThey canât be in any danger! If something happened to them, I couldnât bear it.â
âCan you stop crying? Your sorrowful wails are really getting on my nerves.â
Sophia widened her eyes at his complaint, âI canât cry? Do you want me dead?â
âAll of this is because you insisted on separating our son and Clara. Otherwise, why would our kids run away?â
âAre you blaming me at a time like this? I did what I thought was best for this family. They are my own grandchildren. Do you think I would have done this if I knew it could lead to this?â
