Ricardo hesitated for a moment and then frowned. “You clearly care about him. I knew you couldn’t possibly not have feelings for him. Mr. Melendez is so great. How could any other man compare?”

“Hold on…” Ricardo wanted to say something, but Clara hung up the phone.

Ricardo stomped his foot in anger as he stared at the black screen of his phone.

In the evening, the doors of the emergency room finally opened, and the red light went out.

The doctor took off his mask and smiled in relief. “She’s out of danger now. The bleeding has stopped.

Sophia nodded. “Yes.”

Patrick sighed, “Hmm, I understand what you mean now. She really would sacrifice herself for the two kids. That’s something a stepmother couldn’t do.”

Sophia responded, “I told you so!” She looked at him and continued. “You think I’ve been causing trouble in the family and disturbing our son, but you never thought about why I did what I did. Isn’t this all for the sake of the children? You’re their grandfather, and I’m their biological grandmother. We should both think more about their future, instead of just being happy that our son and Clara are happy and forgetting about this.”
