Chapter 383
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
âReally?â Clara quickly grabbed it. After looking at the picture of two kids standing there unharmed, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
âWhatâs going on with Leah? Has she given the antidote to Emmett yet?â
She had originally intended not to get involved in anything about Emmett, but she couldnât help asking.
Elio found a place to sit down. âSheâs been saved. Sophia has been looking after her in the hospital. I guess he should have already received the antidote. Leah wonât let him die.â
Clara gave a bitter smile. âEmmettâs mother has never liked me. Now that Leah, the savior, is here, she must like her even more. Plus, Leah must have claimed sheâs the biological mother of the two kids.
Sheâll fully support Leah being with Emmett.â
âYou see, it might not be a bad thing to leave such a family sooner. Emmettâs mother is such a nasty woman. How could she think Leah is a good person?â Elio spoke with a sense of injustice for Clara.
âYouâve been treating them so well and giving them your all, even protecting them! And what did you get? She just wants to replace you. If you were with me, my mother would surelyâ¦â
His words suddenly stopped, not daring to go any further!.
Clara smiled slightly, pretended not to hear, and continued to plant flowers.
âNestor should have made breakfast. Letâs go eat.â
âIâm not hungry; you go ahead.â
âHow can you be like this?â Elio walked over to pull her up: âGo wash your hands. Itâs boring for me to eat breakfast alone. Accompany me.â
Clara nodded. âOkay, actually, I have something to tell you.â
âWhat is it?â
âI want to leave here and go back to my old home.â
Elio frowned. âArenât you afraid Emmett will come looking for you?â
âHe wonât!â Clara gave a disappointed smile. âYou donât know, but heâs very proud. The last time I spoke to him, I hurt him deeply; he should have given up on me.â
At the Melendez familyâs home.
Because of the kidnapping, Aiden and Alex hadnât been to school for the past few days.
After this incident, Alex seemed to have grown a lot, and there wasnât that much laughter on his face anymore.
In the childrenâs room.
Alex looked at his brother, who had just walked over, and asked in a low voice, âThey still havenât found Mom?â
âUm.â Aiden nodded and sat back on his bed. âI just heard Grandma and Grandpa talking; they seemed to be saying that our mom had an affair with Mr. Milburn.â
âMr. Milburn?!â Alex was shocked. âThatâs impossible; didnât Mom reject him before?â
âIâm not sure about that. But judging from Grandmaâs agitated look, it seemâs Dad believes it too.â
Alex immediately stood up and quickly pulled Aiden. âThen quickly take me to see Dad! I can explain this to him. Mom told me before that she would never be with Mr. Milburn; there must be a misunderstanding! Canât we just explain this to them?â
âDonât be impulsive. Mom hasnât mentioned this until now, and we donât have the right to get involved.
Calm down.â Aiden didnât move, but instead pulled Alex. âWeâre just kids; we donât know the reasons for many things, so donât make things worse.â
âIs this making things worse? I think if we donât speak up, Mom might really leave!â
