Clara didn’t leave Elic hanging. Even though she knew she’d hurt him, at least she’d gotten a reality check.

After Elio left, he drove straight to the entrance of the community. A guy dressed in black waved at him.

After Elio got out of the car, he said, “Here’s the check. I’ll have my secretary handle the paperwork with you.”

The guy nodded and chuckled, “Sure, I can cooperate at any time. But, I’m a bit curious. Why do you want to buy my run-down house? You could definitely score a decent place downtown with the dough you’re forking over.”

“Quit asking and take the money!”

Elio couldn’t be bothered to chat at the moment. He glanced up at Clara’s place, his brows knitted together, unable to relax for a long time.

At that time, Elio didn’t know what he could do to be with Clara or how to protect her so she wouldn’t get hurt again.

At that moment, his pride didn’t seem to matter anymore. If doing that would get Clara to agree to him, he’d nod his head right away.

But that was all just wishful thinking on his part. Clara’s heart was with Emmett, and he couldn’t change that fact.

Elio dropped his gaze in disappointment and climbed back into the car.

Suddenly, the phone on the passenger seat started to ring. He furrowed his brows and saw it was an unknown number.

Was it Leah causing trouble again?

He picked up the phone, and a man’s voice came from the other end.

“Is this Elio?”

“Yes, it is. Who’s this?”

“I’m Taylor Atwood, Clara’s fiancé.”

Hearing that, Elio sat up straight and asked, “Fiancé? How come I’ve never heard that Clara had a fiancé?”

“That’s because we had a misunderstanding. Now tell me where Clara is. I need to find her.”

Elio frowned, “Are you joking? Don’t you know have the hots for Clara? Why would I tell you where she is?”

Taylor, on the other end of the phone, sneered, “You have the nerve to say you like Clara? Isn’t it your fault she’s in this mess?” Taylor was clearly worked up, “If it wasn’t for you bringing Leah into Clara’s life, how would she have come across so many dangers?”

Elio was taken aback, “How do you know about all this?”

“She’s my fiancée; of course, I care about her!” Taylor sneered, “Elio, do you think you stand a chance in this love triangle? She’s been with me for years. We have a deep connection. She has a child with Emmett, and they’re tied together. And you? I see nothing more than friendship between you two!”

Elio was so angry that he clenched the steering wheel as if he were going to crush it. But the next moment, he suddenly laughed, “I think the real naive one is you! You should find out about Clara’s recent health condition and see if she’s pregnant or not. And then confirm whether the kid is mine!”

“What are you talking about? Clara is carrying your child? That’s impossible!”

“Well, you’re welcome to investigate! To put your mind at ease, I can even take her to the hospital of your choosing for a check-up!”
