Chapter 401
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
But she didnât see any way out of that. So, she just had to play the waiting game and look for the right time to act.
Emmett was already by the staircase when he suddenly turned around and looked at Clara with a cold voice.
âTake her phone and all her communication devices. No using any of those! Let everyone know that if anyone dares to lend her a phone, theyâre on their own!â
Clara was taken aback, âEmmett, you canât take my phone. I promise I wonât call Elio, okay?â
âHaha, you think Iâd still trust you?â Emmett laughed coldly, âIn my eyes, youâre no different than the Melendez familyâs dog!â
Clara was silent.
After saying that, he vanished from Claraâs sight, not giving her any chance to argue, as if even hearing her talk was annoying!
Soon, Clara was taken to the floor where the servants lived.
The butler specifically put her in the farthest room, mocking her as he left, âSince youâre living in the servantâs room now, donât think youâre still Mrs. Melendez! I just saw that the laundry room is short-
staffed. You can go there after you change into the servantâs uniform, or else, no dinner for you!â
After saying that, the butler turned and left. Clara quickly spoke up, âWait, can I have some paper and a pen?âx âWhy? You want to write a letter?â
Clara quickly shook her head, âNo, I justâ¦want to kill some time.â
The butler scoffed, âKill time? Donât worry, once you move into the servantâs room, you wonât have any free time. Youâll be too busy to even sleep! If you have any other demands, I can have you working 24/7!â
After saying that, he left, laughing.
Clara looked at the simple bed in the room, and indescribable feelings welled up in her heart.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open again!
A skinny figure walked in. Upon seeing Clara, she froze and asked, âMrs. Melendez?! What are you doing here?â
Hearing that, Clara didnât know how to respond.
After a few seconds of silence, she awkwardly said, âDonât call me Mrs. Melendez anymore. Iâm just a servant now.â
âHuh? So, the butler was talking about you when he said someone was moving into my room to live with me?â
Clara nodded and sat on the bed, smiling, âHello, Iâm Clara.â
The maid quickly wiped her hands and shook hers, âIâm Rose, you can call me Rose If you need anything, just let me know. Iâll help if I can.â
Seeing her still so formal, Clara said helplessly, âYou donât have to treat me like Mrs. Melendez anymore. Just think of me as another servant!â
Rose seemed a little embarrassed and sighed, âI donât know what happened between you and Mr.
Melendez, but itâs really too much for him to make you live in the servantâs room! When I used to work for you, I always thought you were a kind person. How did it come to this? Is Mr. Melendez just another ungrateful rich kid? Just like all those in the TV dramas?â
Clara félt helpless but also touched.
This young girl, whom she had only met a few times and was talking to for the first time, was standing up for her. She must be a kind person.
âThatâs not it; heâs actually a good guy! And you donât have to call me Mrs. Melendez all the time. Just think of me as a friend! Iâm not from a noble family or anything, and now Iâm just another servant.
Youâre making me feel a little embarrassed.â Clara smiled slightly, âThe butler told me to go to the laundry room earlier. ! should get to work now.â
