Chapter 415
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
Leah would have found a way to extricate her from the situation. Otherwise, she knew that Emmettâs gaze would never rest on her.
Rose rolled her eyes, âI donât understand you guys. Luckily, Iâve never been in love. If itâs this much trouble, Iâd rather be single.â
Clara dabbed at her tears with a tissue and spoke softly, âDonât let my situation affect you. Iâm just a unique case. Donât lose hope in love! Youâre so kind, and you deserve a great boyfriend who truly loves you!â
Roseâs eyes wandered around, her face indifferent, âI donât care about all that. As long as I can save some money and have enough for food and clothes, thatâs all that matters. Now, enough with the sadness. How about I take you to my secret hideout?â
âSecret hideout?â Clara was taken aback.
âYes! I go there every time I feel down,â Rose extended her hand, âCome on, letâs go. Itâs a place no one else knows about!â
âAt the Melendezâs?â
âExactly, at the Melendezâs.â
The bar was alive with noise.
Everyone seemed to be venting their daily frustrations, with the ladies dancing freely, their eyes seeking potential partners to flirt with.
The men seated around watched keenly, silently rating the women who were flaunting their beauty.
However, there was something different that day. The most expensive booth had been booked by Elio!
He sat alone, ordering a table full of drinks and not allowing anyone near.
Two women, cocktails in hand, approached him, âHey, care to share a drink? You look lonely all by yourself.â
Elio glanced up, his face darkening, âScram! All of you, get lost!â
The women were taken aback, âWe just wanted to chat; no need to be so rude! If you donât want to drink with us, fine. But remember, gentlemen have manners!â
However, no sooner had these two women left, another group of women approached to flirt!
In a bar like this, a noticeable man like Elio was naturally popular, but the outcome was always the same-the women were chased away in disgrace.
Elio picked up a bottle to pour himself more drink, but his aim was off. Finally, he discarded the glass and drank straight from the bottle.
The red wine spilled down his neck, staining his expensive suit.
Soon after, the barâs owner came over, âAh! If I had known you were coming, I would have prepared something special.â
Elio glanced at him but said nothing, continuing to drink.
The owner quickly interjected, âBut Elio, youâre drinking too much. How about a dance?â
âI wonât dance! Leave me alone.â
âAre you drunk?â the owner asked, reaching out to steady Elio, âWe have a rest room here. Let me take you there to sober up a bit; how about that?â
Elio scowled, shrugging off his hand, âI told you to leave me alone, so donât make me lose my temper!â
âAlright, alright! Elio, donât be mad. Then Iâll leave.â
The owner reluctantly got up and signaled the bartender not to serve Elio any more drinks.
After all, if this big shot got drunk in his bar, heâd be in a difficult position!
