Clara got up and poured herself a glass of water, then walked to the window and looked outside.

Aiden had instructed her to wait, implying that there must be a reason for the delay. Clara knew she should exercise patience and give it a little more time. However, despite her intentions, her eyes kept glancing at her phone. She had never yearned so desperately for it to ring.

The sound of her phone’s ringtone pierced through the stillness of the night. Clara swiftly picked up her phone and answered eagerly, “Hello?”

“I know! Are you ready? I’m coming over right now!” Clara replied with urgency “In about half an hour, meet me at the back door of the Melendez family’s house!” Aiden instructed.

Clara bit her lower lip, attempting to steady her trembling voice. “Okay! I’m on my way, wait a minute!”

After hanging up, Clara rushed out of the house, forgetting to even change out of her slippers!

She was already at the door when she turned back to quickly put on a pair of sneakers and headed for the Melendez family’s house!

Since the banquet ended early today, Emmett drove to the company to finish going through the documents he hadn’t finished reading during the day Just as he opened his computer, he heard a knock on the door He got up and walked over, “Ricardo? You haven’t finished work yet?”

Ricardo was his secretary at the Melendez Group.

“Yes, Mr. Melendez, I have found some details about the child you asked me to investigate”
