Emmett glanced at her and said, “Are you resisting being with me because you have someone you like?”

Clara quickly retorted. “That’s not it! But after this agreement is over, I still have to live my life! If that’s the case, there will be a lot of gossip about me”

They would say that she’s loose, messing with the boss and all!

And that would be hard to explain.

We still have a long way to go before the agreement ends, don’t worry about the future.”

Before Emmett could finish speaking, Ricardo was already knocking on the door.

Clara quickly went to open it.

Upon seeing him, Ricardo immediately said, “Ms Calloway, good morning!”

At this address, Clara could only laugh, “Morning“”

This is Mr Melendez’s breakfast, and the car is ready! I’ll wait for you outside.

“You’re here, why don’t you come in and eat something?”

Ricardo quickly said, “No need! I’ve already eaten!”

Emmett walked out of the living room, still in his pajamas, and put his arm around Clara’s waist.

He then spoke to Ricardo, “Prepare all the materials for today’s meeting! I’ll need them soon.”

Ricardo nodded, “Okay! I got it, Mr Melendez”

After saying that, he quickly turned around and went back to the car.

Clara couldn’t help but sigh.

Now she really didn’t know how to explain!

How was she going to explain that she and Emmett were fake married!?

“Why are you so bothered? Don’t want people to see us together?”

“I just feel. I don’t know how to face my colleagues in the future.”

They definitely wouldn’t say anything on the surface, but she didn’t know what they’d say behind her back!

“You’re the boss’s wife, whoever annoys you, you have the right to fire them.” Emmett looked at Clara, “Without my permission.”

Emmett turned and went to the kitchen, leaving Clara standing there dumbfounded.

What did he mean?

He had given her the power to fire anyone from Melendez company?!

You know, this kind of privilege… she had never dared to dream of it! It was the kind of power only a real boss’s wife would have.

After breakfast, Clara and Emmett got in the car together and headed for the office.

The atmosphere in the car was a bit off, with Ricardo there, Clara felt awkward.

Suddenly, her phone beeped.

Clara looked down.

It was a goodnight message from Alex.

Emmett noticed her and then asked, “Your son?”

Clara nodded and quickly put her phone away, “It’s a message from him.”

Emmett paused, then pulled out a check, casually wrote a series of numbers on it, and handed it to Clara.

Clara was taken aback, “What’s this?”

“This is a gift for your son”

“You don’t need to!” Clara quickly pushed it back, “He’s still young, he doesn’t need money!”

“This is what I should do as a stepfather.”

Clara didn’t say a word Stepfather…

She let out a heavy sigh If Emmett knew that he was Alex’s biological father, what would the scene be like?

Would he just kill her on the spot?
