Chapter 84

Just as she was thinking, she got a sudden message from Aiden.

“Mom, have you left yet?”

Clara couldn’t help but smile.

Even though Aiden is young, he’s always concerned about everything.

“Not yet, but I’m at the airport! You need to study hard, Mommy will be back soon!”

“Will you bring Alex back?”

“Probably not this time! Once Mom has everything arranged, I’ll make sure you meet Alex! Be good, and once I get there, I’ll find a chance to video call you!”

After a while, Aiden replied, “Mom, I’m okay, let’s not video call! Alex is injured, and he might feel upset if I video chat with you. He might get worried that I’ll steal his mom! You can just send me some videos!”

Clara’s nose tingled, and she almost burst into tears right there!

How lucky she was to have such a thoughtful son; it’s like she’s accumulated good karma from her past life.

“Alright, Mommy will listen to you! If you need anything, just text me. I’ll be more flexible once | get there, and I can pick up calls anytime!”

“Mm, have a safe trip, Mom.”

Clara stared at the message, thinking about her son, and stayed in the restroom for quite a while before leaving.

Thank God! This place is not a frequent pass–by! Otherwise, people would think she’s crazy.

As Clara walked back, Emmett was still in the meeting.

During the break, Clara smiled and said, “You might as well go back! It’s unnecessary for you to be here with me; I won’t get lost.”

“I worry about you going alone.” Emmett said very naturally.

It was as if he and Clara had been a couple for many years!

But…

It sounded a bit awkward to Clara.

She wanted to say something a few times but held back.

“You’re boarding in half an hour.” Emmett suddenly pulled out a check and handed it to her, “Since you won’t let me see your son, this is the least I can do.”

Clara was shocked and quickly pushed it back, “Mr. Melendez, what are you doing? I can’t take this!

I’m already grateful enough for the private jet ride; accepting your money would be too much!”

“It’s a gift for your son.”

“He’s a kid; he doesn’t need a gift!” Mentioning her son made Clara so nervous; she was practically sweating buckets!

“Take it.”

“Mr. Melendez, I really can’t…”

“If I tell you to take it, then take it! Or I’ll go with you and give it to him in person.”

Upon hearing this, Clara immediately grabbed the check.

“Then on behalf of my son, thank you!”

Emmett frowned and looked at her, “It seems like you don’t want me to meet your son.

ΤΙ “Huh?” Clara swallowed nervously, “Why wouldn’t I want you to meet my son?! Actually, he’s very shy and doesn’t like to talk. If he meets you, he might get all sorts of ideas. He’s afraid someone will take his mom away, so he can’t accept other men around me.”

“Is your son an introverted child?”

“Yes! Very introverted!” Clara’s lies were getting smoother, “He barely talks throughout the day.”
